Famous JAV Director, Samoari Sets Eyes On Overseas Porn

I’ve been covering this industry long enough to know when something seismic is about to shift. And let me tell you, all signs are pointing toward one man: Samoari. Yes, the heavily tattooed, camera-slinging director with a penchant for some of the most out-of-the-box JAVs in recent history. His social feeds have always been a goldmine for anyone who likes a peek behind the curtain, but lately?

Fans could’ve missed this gossip.

A few days ago, the director in his early 40s made an announcement that raised more than just a few 'brows. Chances are he’s slamming the door shut on his infamous Nympho Project - a series that, love it or hate it, helped introduce raw, unscripted intensity in JAVs. Just like that, one of the most buzzed-about franchises in recent memory is over. But before anyone could bat an eye, Samoari is already onto the next thing.

Here’s where it gets interesting.

You might’ve heard of actresses going exclusive, but this is one of those rare few times when I’ve witnessed a director go exclusive. Samoari’s doing so with Waap Entertainment, but not in the way you might think. Instead of working with big-name stars, Samoari’s now locked in on the freelancers, the doujin divas, and the uncrowned queens of the indie JAV scene. He just doesn’t seem to get rid of his habit of experimenting. Old habits die hard, I guess!

In two years, he’s set a countdown. After that, the plan is to move his base of operations overseas.

I’ll admit it, when I first read that, I had to pause. Is he really leaving Japan? The thought of Samoari, the man who’s been a fixture of JAV’s edgiest shoots, packing up and setting up base abroad is hard to process. But the more I looked, the more the pieces started to fit.

His growing relationship with SWAG, the streaming platform known for its international reach and looser, more flexible production model, suddenly makes a lot more sense. Samoari is discreetly building bridges behind the scenes.

But he’s not giving up on the domestic industry entirely, not yet. According to him, this new phase with Waap is also about paying back the studio’s president, a man who apparently played a major role in Samoari’s early days. It’s a rare kind of loyalty in this business, and maybe the last box he needs to tick before going global.

Still, the question lingers: What does “overseas” really mean? Will he be shooting content abroad and funneling it back into the Japanese market? Or is it gonna be some sort of hybrid East-meets-West studio? Or is this a full-on pivot into international territory, cutting ties with domestic AV distribution altogether?

Rumors are already swirling about Taiwan. Honestly, it makes perfect sense. The infrastructure is quietly growing there with recent developments like TRE. I’ve heard of a few producers already setting up shop there, shooting locally, certifying content through the Japan Copyright Association, and letting domestic companies handle the distribution. Some even bring entire Japanese crews over for seamless production. The channels are there, and Samoari is savvy enough to know how to use them.

And let’s not forget that most of his former freelance muses have now gone exclusive. In Samoari’s own words, his “responsibility” to those actresses is done. He gave them a platform, helped them rise, and now he’s ready to step away from the spotlight that helped them shine. There’s something poetic about that. Rare, too.

But here’s the part I can’t stop thinking about: What kind of overseas expansion are we talking about? A one-man operation with a passport and a camera? Or a full-blown AV empire that spans borders and languages?

He hasn’t said. Not yet. “More will be explained later,” he teased, and you better believe I’ll be watching closely.

Because when a maverick like Samoari starts packing his bags, you can bet it’s not for a vacation. Something big is coming. And wherever he goes next, the industry will be compelled to follow.

Sayaka Nanjou Hints At Retirement, Asks Fans Not To Pry On Her

You know that feeling when someone you’ve secretly admired quietly starts stepping back, leaving breadcrumbs instead of explanations? That’s exactly how fans of Sayaka Nanjou might be feeling right now.

And if her words are to be believed, the doe-eyed JAV darling has announced that she’s leaving the industry next year. The news came straight from her official X handle, but of course, it wasn’t without a layer of mystery. Let me walk you through it.

In a message to her followers, Sayaka hinted that some of us might’ve already sensed it coming. She confirmed that she’s planning to retire from JAV next year and is preparing to move on to the “next stage” of her career, whatever that might be. But here’s the particular part of her message that got fans intrigued: she made a point to politely ask fans not to pry into her reasons. No questions, no speculations, just… let her exit quietly.

Now, as humans, we have a tendency to make us want to dig even deeper when someone asks us not to, don’t we?

But to be fair, her manager stepped in to pour some water on the fire. According to him, Sayaka’s message wasn’t meant to hint at any ‘best-kept secret’. He rather blamed the current climate of things, with fake accounts turning rumors into “unfounded speculation” (his words, not mine). Apparently, some actresses are already considering lawsuits, and Sayaka’s message was just a preventative measure. A way to say: “Let me leave in peace.”

Still, I couldn’t help but wonder why now. And why so cautiously?

For those who’ve followed Sayaka’s career, this departure almost feels premature. For the unversed, she began as an exclusive actress with IDEA POCKET, made her mark at Fitch, and for a while, it genuinely seemed like she was gearing up for a long-haul career. She had the look, that kind of face that made you feel like you knew her. Add to that her killer figure. And yet… the breakthrough never really came!

Yes, she filmed consistently like most actresses and had decent momentum, but she never reached that hyper-prolific “release machine” status that distinguishes the cream talents of the JAV fraternity. Maybe that was by choice, maybe the market didn’t quite catch on the way we all thought it would, or maybe she saw a limit on the horizon and decided to bow out gracefully, on her terms.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the slightly bittersweet tone that’s behind this whole announcement. Sayaka isn’t the kind of actress who disappears without a trace, and yet, it feels like she’s doing everything she can to leave discreetly without attracting much attention.

Two and a half years in the business isn’t long by JAV standards, but it’s long enough to make an impression, and she certainly did. She may not have reached the levels of superstardom like Yua Mikami or Yui Hatano. Her career arc may not have been any sort of spectacular, but she held her own as a respected freelancer.

Here’s hoping one of the studios gives her a proper send-off with a farewell JAV to close the curtain on her short career. She deserves that much. I genuinely wish her well. Even if we never quite knew the full story, you’ll be missed

Thank you, Sayaka.

Ruu Totsuka Lands A New Contract, Drops Former Stage Name

In an industry where reinvention is practically a rite of passage, name changes and agency switches aren’t exactly headline news, unless you know where to look. And recently, what caught my attention is this girl, Ruu Totsuka… or should I say, just Ruu.

That’s right, the former GG agency starlet has packed up her bags and walked into a whole new identity with a powerhouse agency like Mine’s. Along with the transfer, came a rebrand: she dropped the 'Totsuka' from her name, and now, she’s simply Ruu. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. There’s more to this transfer than meets the eye.

Industry insiders will tell you that agency shifts happen all the time, some so discreet that you’d miss them entirely, others like this one make the news. When a JAV performer parts ways with her agency, one of the trickiest assets to manage isn’t her schedule; rather, it’s her stage name. Yes, the name we fans come to associate with countless JAVs and promotional assets often comes bound to intellectual property rights. And who owns those? It’s mostly the agencies.

If the exit is amicable, agencies sometimes allow actresses to carry their stage names with them. Is the split sour? You’d perhaps never hear it anymore.

So when I saw Ruu ditch 'Totsuka', it raised an eyebrow. Could it be a quiet fallout with her former agency?

An insider in agency circles gave me a little insight: “The cleaner the name change, the cleaner the departure usually.” In other words, this wasn’t an explosive breakup. But it also wasn’t meaningless. The fact that she didn’t keep even part of her old name tells us something changed enough for a reset, but not enough to burn bridges.

From what I’ve gathered, Ruu herself was the one who pushed to become an exclusive actress, when many opt for the freedom of freelance gigs. This preference alone shows that she’s serious about her career and wants a stable rollout of her JAVs. And a proficient agency like Mine’s might be exactly what she needs to fuel her potential. So far, she’s still being positioned as a planning exclusive, meaning her output won’t dramatically shift, at least not yet.

But the real game could be overseas.

Remember the 27-year-old’s appearance at the TRE expo last year? That wasn’t just a cameo. If sources are to be believed, Mine's reportedly has strong ties to the exhibition organizers. Coincidence? I don’t think so. If Ruu’s rebranding was meant to make her more internationally marketable, this could be her first step to stardom. Think of overseas appearances, global releases, and maybe even streaming partnerships. And if that’s the case, the name 'Ruu' is short, catchy, and easy to remember across languages starts to make a lot of sense.

Of course, whether she goes global or stays domestic, Ruu still has to hustle. A new name doesn’t guarantee her instant fame. She’s got to fill her schedule, keep the fans hooked, and remind everyone that no matter what name she goes by, she’s still got the X factor that drives her fans to purchase her JAVs.

So next time you’re browsing release schedules or scrolling through expo lineups and you see 'Ruu', don’t scroll past too fast. She’s likely not a rookie. And trust me… by the looks of it, the second act might be the one that defines her.

Verify your age by

Recently a number of US states and a few countries of note have enacted age verification requirements for adult sites. On the US front at least, legal experts both within and outside of our industry do not believe any will pass a constitutional test. However, since these laws currently are on the books and thus have the ability to be enforced, we are choosing to comply with them at this point in time.

ZENRA uses Bluecheck.me, a third party verification service, to perform this important task easy to install filtering software does infinitely better.

Information used in the verification process is not stored on our servers. Phone number and address verification is instant and uses database cross referencing (no calls, no SMS messages, nothing mailed to the address). ID verification takes about one minute and is performed 'blind' on Bluecheck's side where the ID is reviewed by someone unaware of what service the submitter is attempting to access.

Regardless of what method you choose, it costs you nothing, but does increase the cost of our operations in order to somehow make the internet a 'safer' place.
