BREAKING: Ayaka Yamagishi's 8-Year-Long Run Comes To An End!

Finally, the news is out! After weeks of speculations by fans regarding her social media inactivity, Ayaka Yamagishi has spoken, or rather, her agency has spoken on her behalf in the late hours of September 10. The 36-year-old made a startling revelation that she has decided to retire, while stepping away from her agency by the end of this month.
Honestly, the official statement was punched in so quietly on her agency’s account, it almost read like the kind of polished farewell message we’ve seen before with heartfelt thanks to fans, gratitude to her agency and film companies, and the reassuring note that works already filmed will continue to be released through January 2026.
But her agency tried its best to do damage control by issuing this tweet, “This sudden announcement may be disappointing, but she has resolved to embark on a new path and will move forward with a positive attitude toward the next stage.”

ファンの皆さまへ
いつも山岸あや花を応援してくださり、誠にありがとうございます。
このたび山岸あや花は、2025年9月末日をもちましてAV女優としての活動を終了し、所属事務所も退所する運びとなりました。…
The agency staff went on to thank fans for their support and promised that Yamagishi’s filmed JAVs would continue to surface in the coming months. I mean, it’s a familiar formula, yet the timing feels… strange.
However, I suppose that strategy worked, as evidenced by Ayaka’s promise to offer something more to her fans. “Meeting all of you who have supported me through my work has been an invaluable and precious experience. From October, I will be taking a new step as a freelancer. I will continue to work in my own way, so I hope you will continue to support me.”
I totally get it. This is simply a halt to her next career and seems like she’s not disappearing from public life anytime soon. For the time being, she’s just leaving the industry and perhaps exploring her options. Not going to lie, but her statement is polite enough to be vague, and vague enough to make us all wonder.
Now here’s where things get interesting. Only in July, Ayaka was all smiles at overseas promotional events in Hong Kong. She was interacting with her fans, and honestly, nothing in her demeanor hinted at an impending goodbye. Then she returned to Japan, and her SNS updates abruptly stopped.
Days turned into weeks. Her accounts went dark, which led to fans having all sorts of theories like a health scare, and just when the silence felt deafening, her agency revealed that the 36-year-old has no desire to carry forward, and her retirement is effective in weeks, with only previously filmed JAVs left in the pipeline.
It doesn’t take seasoned eyes to see that something shifted between Hong Kong and Tokyo. One doesn’t flip from promotional tours to career-ending decisions overnight.
Ayaka had shared a snippet from Hong Kong back in July
The digital breadcrumbs tell their own story. After July, Ayaka’s online presence dwindled to nothing. Then, in a discreet attempt, she had her name and profile taken down from her agency’s website. When a talent vanishes from the agency’s site before an official announcement is released, it usually means that it wasn’t a mutual decision, as the press release makes it out to be.
And I wonder if our readers noticed this or not, if her retirement is effective in September, but her final JAVs come out in January 2026, then she essentially stopped filming around the Hong Kong trip. Which means yes, the decision to retire likely happened right after that tour. Too convenient, don’t you think?
So, what now? Will we see Ayaka again? The answer is probably no, considering her agency’s tone, coupled with her moving to a different realm altogether, suggests her domestic appearances are almost done for.
But what about overseas events? Rumor has it she’s still slated for appearances in Macau between 26th-28th, where fan events often pull bigger crowds than in Tokyo. Organizers insist she’s coming. As per a renowned JAV columnist, she’ll make an appearance later this year. While skepticism lingers, the possibility of a last international appearance feels very real.
If she does show up in Macau, it won’t just be another fan event; it’ll certainly have a farewell vibe to it. My advice? If you’re within reach of Macau, grab that ticket and just catch the flight. Because this might be the last time you’ll ever see Ayaka in person.

If anyone in the industry deserves a proper send-off, it’s Ayaka Yamagishi. Since her debut in July 2017, she’s built a career not only on looks but by consistently delivering some chart-topping JAVs. A far cry from a one-hit wonder, Ayaka carved out a steady presence for nearly a decade.
That’s why this idea of an abrupt retirement stings. Her fans deserve a drawn-out farewell, perhaps a fanbus tour for a proper conclusion to her JAV career. Instead, what they got handed is just silence, removal of her profile from the agency’s website, and an SNS post with a faint promise of Macau.
Her message hints at freelance work, but I wonder what awaits her fans after her exit from JAV. I guess that it's a pivot to Fantia, selling digital content, or there’s a whole array of mainstream shows that she can take up, or perhaps a gig abroad like most JAV actresses who often enjoy cult celebrity status long after retiring at home?
And let’s not completely ignore the darker possibility that maybe she’s stepping away entirely under pressure. Agency disputes are a common thing in the industry, or even contract clashes, similar to what Nanami Kodama could be at play. The industry is no stranger to sudden exits disguised as “new chapters.”
So here we are, finally. Ayaka is calling it a day after eight years in the adult business, which is more than half a decade. While her agency assures us it’s her decision, her words frame it as a hopeful new step, as fans are left somewhere between heartbreak and confusion.
But the timing and the abruptness of the retirement suggest that there’s more beneath the surface. And while we may never know the whole truth, the question that’ll linger on my mind is: what really happened between Hong Kong & Tokyo?
