BREAKING: Nanami Kodama LASHES Out At S1 Over Wage Drop!

Did you guys happen to come across Nanami Kodama’s rant on X before she deactivated her account? Damn, where do I even begin? August 20th was nothing short of usual for the 23-year-old's fans. I bet this gossip would make you clutch your phones in disbelief. And trust me when I say this, I was glued to it!

Not in a lifetime would I have thought that Nanami would air her grievances to hundreds of thousands of followers like this. There was a certain tremble in her tone as she confessed that no matter how much her JAVs sold, she wouldn’t see a single yen. “Even when my contract comes up for renewal, I shake with fear,” in a cry for help, she revealed what made me stop scrolling.

Her rant felt as if someone had ripped open the floodgates, and as much as I hate to admit it, Nanami admitted that lately, she’d been crying every single day, collapsing under the weight of it all. At one point, out of frustration, she even congratulated the pirates (the freeloaders watching her videos without paying), admitting, “You win this time”. In a desperate show of sarcasm, Nanami publicly acknowledged the very people undercutting her career.

But the S1 exclusive wasn’t done here. She went on to tell her followers that anyone who wanted to unfollow her should just go ahead. And, that she was exhausted of portraying the “good girl” content that people expect from a reputed JAV actress like her.

Perhaps, this was nothing compared to what she was about to reveal.

In an attempt to allege her studio and her agency, Nanami took direct shots. “Every time my contract renews, my pay is reduced. Shouldn’t this have been clear from the start? How long do you plan to continue this scam?” She called out the bluff without any filter.

Nanami was furious, and it was evident from the fact that she had begun unfollowing accounts left and right as if cutting ties in real time. I’ve never seen her so frustrated to the point that she declared that “Maybe I should remove the blue checkmark next.” And next thing you know, she deactivated her account.

There’s a lot to take away from Nanami’s rant from the other day. While her fury felt like someone burning bridges while going down, the truth seems a little murkier. Behind her emotional rant lies a very real industry practice. When an actress debuts, her JAVs sell like hot cakes right out of the oven. And for obvious reasons, she’s new, exciting, and every producer wants a piece of that pie. But with time and a few exceptions, rarely has there been an actress who hasn’t seen a decline in her star power and influence, and it is a standard practice for studios to cut down pay during contract renewals, rather, betting on actresses who have a promising career ahead.

If you look at it, it’s not ethical, but it’s the cold, harsh truth of show business, and the JAV industry is no exception. While most actresses quietly accept it, Nanami wasn’t the one to digest this fact, so she ended up exploding on X instead.

And you’d be amused to know that just the day before her meltdown, she was out there filming (as is evident from her Instagram post, pictured above). Which means despite her outrage, she did accept a contract extension, though it comes with a dreaded pay cut. Given that she’s furious, Nanami hasn’t walked away yet.

What remains to be seen now is whether her agency sorts it out with her. For the time being, she’s back up on her backup account, hinting that she doesn’t fully trust her current setup. But whether Nanami goes back to normal or burns it all down depends on how much damage control her agency can pull off.

Personally, I don’t see this as the end of her career. If anything, she’s garnered even more attention for herself. Nanami might face flak for calling out her studio like that, and while some may even say that it’s career suicide, I, for once, think that this is exactly the controversy that’ll put her back in the limelight, attracting offers from various producers. It won't be wrong for me to say that she might actually have an upper hand at the negotiation table now.

At the time of writing this column, there has been no sort of communication regarding Nanami by her agency, TPowers, through any official channel. It remains to be seen as to what comes out of this in the near future. As of now, this is still a developing story. However, subsequent to her rant, Nanami has actively promoted her services via her backup account and Instagram stories. The soapland website advertises that the 23-year-old is apparently charging over $1300 per session for private time with her clientele.
