JAV Sales Report - May 2025

Welcome to the May sales report. Let's go see if Kanna Seto can continue her tear or if any newcomers or veterans can trump her!

I don’t know about you guys but it feels like Miyu Aizawa came out of nowhere. She’s not exactly a new actress, she debuted back in 2023, but she’s somehow climbed the rankings like you wouldn’t believe. It goes to show that the right place right time is really key in this industry. S1 is really overcrowded these days and you’re stuck competing between everything you can think of. On one side you’ve got huge boob actresses like Ren Gojo, Yu Tano, and Momoka Kagura. On another side you’ve got the hottest debuts like Kanna Seto (who I might add also has 100J cup boobs). And if that isn’t enough you’ve got industry veterans like Aika Yumeno and miru to compete with. Speaking of miru, even she complains that it’s tough out there these days, so I can only imagine how much it must have been for Miyu. And yet, Miyu is freelancing and really making a name for herself. She went from someone we all overlooked to someone taking the spotlight, and it really makes you wonder if some of these exclusive actresses really ought to be freelancing. Sure, miru wouldn’t be joining Miyu in this series for Oppai, but miru swapping to Moodyz like Unpai did could just as easily be the change of pace she needs just like Miyu is seeing here. Or maybe you go freelance and get creampied all the time and we can make something special out of it. I’m not exactly sure how long Miyu’s going to stay in the spotlight, I feel like she’s maybe overstaying her welcome a little bit and likely to fall off the way Mei Itsukaichi or Jun Suehiro did, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Has it really been five years since Ririko debuted? Wow time sure flies. She’s been a pretty great actress to watch these years and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to watch. This video also seems pretty interesting as a concept to have a few amateur fans getting a chance with her. Sure, I somewhat doubt they’re fans like they seem to suggest, but hey, censorship is great at giving you the illusion. I mean, they’re certainly not giving her real creampies either as much as I’m sure fans (myself included) would love to do. But either way, I hope more studios go back to this kind of stuff we used to see.

Riho has been on an absolute tear in recent months and this one feels like a highlight among highlights. Pair her up with some great busty actresses and then add all sorts of fun content to boot. Plus it’s directed by the GOAT Nao Masaki. I can only say so many nice things about the film which is why I’ll be reviewing it next month. I’ve long since said Riho is really underrated and it’s nice to see not only DMM results but even Bookmate results show her climbing the rankings as if people heard my thoughts and started to listen to me.

At what point is it safe to say Kanna Seto has eclipsed Saika Kawakita as the face of the industry? Yeah, not just the face of S1 but the poster actress for all of JAV. She’s literally hitting the grand slam here being first on all five lists. I’m not sure if that’s really ever been done before, if it has it would probably have been another S1 actress like Saika or Yua. But for Kanna to consistently be dominating every list as a debut is unreal. I mean, you certainly see some hyped up debuts but we’re not just on her first or second month, this is nearly half a year after her debut. You best believe there will be something from me if Kanna ever drops off the top spot, and I’ll of course be reviewing her at the end of the year hoping she is exactly what people seemingly are claiming. I still think it’s absolutely wild she’s dominating quite this much.

So what’s the verdict from people on Aika’s return to JAV? Maybe it doesn’t quite feel like a redebut since she was only gone for about a year. That being said it does feel a bit like it as Aika didn’t quite seem as bubbly to me as she used to, it’s like she grew up a fair bit in that year. I was already starting to fall off the Aika train and her performances haven’t really been up to par. However it’s hard for me to ignore things when she looks like this. She’s got a nice cute/mature look going for her where she’s got that youthful look while having a good amount of maturity. Of course, she also has nice boobs too, and my god does she look great as a maid here. I’m sure I’ll be watching some stuff from her and I don’t necessarily think we should toss her aside or anything, though with what S1 is putting out these days I wouldn’t blame anyone for wanting to watch others.

Akari Mitani has been on her retirement tour for some time and it’s hard not to be excited as a fan. Sure, it’s always a sad time seeing them retire, even when they announce it’s upcoming, but it’s also hard to complain when you get such incredible content out of it. I’ve seen countless actresses retire now and have seen this exact retirement tour song and dance before. It’s also absolutely incredible, I remember Meguri’s in 2017 being everything I could have wanted. This video similarly looks absolutely incredible. Two strong performers who are literal best friends, how can you possibly not have this be a banger of a film? It doesn’t release until next month but I expect even Aika Yamagishi to have a stronger showing after something like this.

Rui is the latest from Muteki, a studio we at the sales report are quite familiar with. Muteki debuts have a lot of potential but whether they turn out to be the next Yua Mikami is another story. We’ve seen more busts than anything from them lately and I remain unconvinced by Rui. If I’m reading the small text on the back of the cover right she’s 90 I cup, 90 for I cup is a little on the small side. She doesn’t strike me as someone who will compete with Kanna Seto long term so we’ll see what happens from here.

Beauty Venus - The Harlem. One of these days Japan will learn that Harlem doesn’t mean what they think it does. Regardless though a BV featuring 8 actresses all from Idea Pocket is interesting to say the least. While Kana Momonogi is missing it’s got everyone else from them I would have wanted, Momo, Mitsuri, and Marina. I remain somewhat unconvinced of a BV video with this many actresses in it as it feels like you don’t get all the things that make BV so great. You aren’t going to get the same amount of lesbian action just because you can skimp on it in some scenes and it’ll be fine. Similarly you don’t get every pairing in a duo scene because it’s just not possible. Sure, it’s over five hours long, but I’d honestly rather get the normal BV, especially when it’s cross studio. It’s still interesting to see them doing this though and I feel like it’s a direct competition to S1 doing more of it lately.

Ako Kimura is doing well this month on a bunch of charts, from top digital videos to top physical sales and even on Bookmate. That’s hardly surprising, I just look at covers and see exactly what I want to see. That more mature look from her that you typically don’t get from S1 (she’s listed at 28), but of course those massive L cup boobs. S1 seems to be hoarding all the super busty ladies and I’m not even mad about it. Ako is no Kanna Seto if we’re looking at the sales reports, not even close, but I’m still happy all the same. Hopefully she gets something good in the near future, though I won’t even blame S1 if they want to keep milking her milkers in generic stuff as long as they can. May’s release was generic, June’s is as well, and probably a few months still to come.

Fumika Kashiwagi appears to be doing quite well for herself. Her debut film is doing quite well here and you can see her doing extremely well elsewhere. She’s two spots ahead of Ako on Bookmate and three spots behind Ako on DMM. That’s pretty good in my eyes considering how incredible Ako looks and how amazing Ako’s social media game has been, though I feel obligated to state my incredible Ako bias. Still, Fumika seems like my kind of actress too and if the people want to tell me she’s the real deal then who am I to argue?

Kana Momonogi (桃乃木かな) has an interesting VR film this month. It’s got this duality of a performance from Kana where she’s sort of lightly dominating him, or as they put it, this angel vs devil theme. On the one hand she’s there upset you didn’t shower and still think your smelly cock is going to get some, but then she’s still willing to put out. I think maybe they were going for that sort of “she should be innocent but she’s far from it” vibe. I’m not sure Kana still has quite that vibe to her after filming over 100 videos but hey, you’ve gotta do something to keep things interesting. If anything i’m just glad Kana is still doing well when she’s not starring in IP group films.

Iyo Shinohara (篠原いよ) is an actress I’ve been quite hype about since her debut. We get so few lactating actresses and she’s been everything I could ask for in one. She’s been doing well pretty consistently and while I’ve been a bit skeptical because her lactation always seemed to take a bit of a back seat I can see that’s not the case here. In fact, this is from an upcoming VR film, and let me just say that I’m not sure I’m ready for VR lactation. That just sounds so incredible that I need to sit down and mentally prepare for it. That screenshot says it all, and hopefully in a VR film over two hours long we’ll get a good amount of it. Man if they get some milk on the camera lens I will lose it. Either way I point this out that between this and other things I’ve been hearing about her lactation that I expect her to continue to do well.

Aoi Ibuki (葵いぶき) has a fun film in May with this teacher one we’ve seen recently. Normally I get very upset when teacher films aren’t teacher films but this one manages to set the stage quite nicely to avoid it. Instead of it being strong teacher themed it’s “hey I’ve been waiting for you to graduate so we can actually do this” and that’s quite nice. Individual films maybe not as great as they sound, maybe part of that was the actress not quite doing what they needed to. It’s also interesting to see Moodyz take this from Wanz Factory that I’ve seen doing it (Julia and Ai Sayama come to mind) and it’ll be interesting to see if others do it. I may not be so keen personally on Ibuki but give me Himari doing it and I’d quite likely watch it.

Jun Megami (女神ジュン) is doing well for herself. I find I’m really a bit torn on her since she’s quite attractive but comes across as being filled with a good amount of plastic. I also just find that Faleno doesn’t have good enough quality videos in my mind. Like this idea of her having sex in a hotel room all night long with a virgin subordinate who teases her boobs - not really that exciting. That’s also one of the more interesting films from her which goes to show just how lame things have been. She wouldn’t be the first nor last Faleno debut to get a solid rating from me and fall off my radar from content like this. Still, doing well is a good sign that people don’t really care and just enjoy her physically.

Yui Sayama (佐山由依) is an actress that has been gaining a lot of steam lately. She left the comfort of a E-Body exclusive early on and kind of went into the pits only to emerge in my favourite series. It’s somewhat surprising to see her there because she didn’t strike me as someone that good, but at the same time maybe I’m just stuck in the past about Oppai as a studio. I still remember the good old days when all the busty freelancers would be working there, or they attracted high quality exclusives. Has it really been five years since Julia was last exclusive there? And it’s been three years (wow) since Hitomi retired and the studio went all the way downhill. Regardless, Yui in my favourite series is a good sign still, I think. It does mean I’ll be watching her, and maybe others are like me and see this as a positive sign amidst a sea of mediocrity from her.

Ren Gojo (五条恋) did fairly well last month ending up in 62nd place on Bookmate. Some of you might think that’s pretty good for her, honestly I look at this as a bit of a disappointment. She has not one, not two, but three releases in May. Firstly she has her standard solo release, which actually looks quite good and almost made my watchlist. Secondly she has a VR film, which doesn’t look like anything special but hey who am I to complain about huge tits in VR. And then last but certainly not least she has a major group video for S1. I look at all of this and wonder why she isn’t doing way better than these results indicate. I mean, Yu Tano is up in 9th to give you an indication of what she perhaps should be seeing instead.

Noa Haruna (羽月乃蒼) will forever end up in this weird spot for me as an actress. On the one hand she has incredible boobs. I’m with Pan on this one that she has some absolutely incredible milkers, some of the best udders we’ve seen in some time. On the flip side they keep doing her dirty with all sorts of weird mask fetish films covering up her face. I mean sure she only has boobs and I like no other qualities from her but damn do they do her dirty time and time again. A least maybe a cow theme is on point for her but like, why you gotta cover up her face? I mean sure cow ears are cool but I’ve seen plenty of cow cosplay and not a single face mask like this. It’s almost like a weird running gag that’s gone on too long that just needs to end. She does seem to be doing reasonably well for herself as a mid tier freelance actress making their top 100 really ain’t that bad. We’ll just have to see if the industry can let her do a bit better or if this is her peak.

Jun Mizukawa (水川潤) has never really been someone that high up on my radar, even despite everyone telling me she squirts and deepthroats. Maybe I’ll regret having never gotten into her years down the road, but with her retirement announced I’m not about to start. Still, the squirting you can see on this May Lunatics release really does emphasize the good qualities from her. It does seem like the kind of thing to push a Lunatics video into great quality. I will say that Jun hasn’t really been getting the greatest releases lately but maybe with her retirement she’ll get some quality films. We are expecting her retirement film any month now, in her own words sometime in the summer or autumn. I wish her the best and hope that she gives us a proper sendoff film.

That's all for this month folks. I'm still baffled by how well Kanna Seto is doing, she's the best debut I think we've ever seen in the sales report. I'm also excited to see how Ako Kimura compares to all the omega busty actresses S1 has gotten in recent years. All I can say for sure is that the industry seems very healthy, and especially with all this group content it looks like we're starting to go back to our old normal.
