FANZA’s Actress Rankings Throughout the Years – Part 2

Surprises on the list

Eimi Fukada charts twice on the list at 9 and 3 in 2019 and 2020, respectively. This might come at a surprise for some but those were her peak years and the only years near the top. She’s really built her popularity off-screen since then. Today, she’s one of the most popular actresses outside of porn. Some use porn as a launching pad for other careers and that is certainly the case for Eimi. Not much love for the Super busty either as I’m finding out. The very well-known Hitomi and her giant breasts only show up once on these lists, topping out at number 5 for 2008, her debut year. Hitomi is known to be much more popular abroad than she is at home, but this difference is stark. JP fans just don’t care much for her mega milkers.

2017 was the year of the Small Ladies

I don’t know if they all peaked at the same time or if there was something in the water for 2017. Either way, that year saw a few small and modestly endowed actresses jump into the upper ranks. Actresses like Rika Mari, Shuri Atomi, Rena Aoi, Sora Shiina, Noa Eikawa, and Mikako Abe. Most of them were freelancers at the time, if I remember right. All quality actresses and a banner year for fans of smaller or petite women. If you add on with Aki Sasaki, Hibiki Otsuki, and Yu Kawakami, you’ll see this was not the year for busty fans. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ichi up Ichi down

With a full year of JAV under her belt, Ichika hit the number 1 spot in 2020. Since the start, she’s had up and down years. Following that with a #11 spot in 2021, a #2 spot in 2022, and a #9 spot in 2023. Of course, being down is relative, as she’s still in the top 10 among the best of the best. I can’t track what this is up with this up and down movement as her output is mostly the same. If anything, her 2020 ranking is an outlier as she starred in fewer films that year.

Mana Sakura from then to now

These charts aren’t kind to FANZA’s competitors and for awhile many of them left the storefront for some time. Like SOD, who are underrepresented on the chart with their own storefront. Which makes it all the more impressive to see Mana Sakura show up in 2023 at #16. She first appeared in the Top 20 was from 2012 to 2014. A career that spans over a decade now, and she is still bringing them in and for good reason. The picture of consistency; Mana still looks incredible, her body is holding up nicely, and she brings it with her performances. Interest might be waning but this SOD legend has it after all these years.

Who likes their Milfs?

Now a rough count of all the Milfs and older women on the list gave me about 80 showings, which would be around 30% of the list. These lists are dominated by the younger and fresher faces in porn, which you can see in the Debut section alone. However, older ladies are always a constant in porn like Yumi Kazama who is still standing even after all this time. Yumi had a stretch from 2012 to 2016 where she saw a nice bump in popularity. Yumi first began in porn before the millennium even started, so it’s really impressive that she is even still around.

Other notable Milfs include Aki Sasaki, who had a short reign at the top in 2016 and 2017 with the #2 and #4 spots. She has since returned to porn but the landscape has changed since she was around. I’m not sure she can return to the top spot and I don’t think she wants to work that hard for it anyways. One Milf stands about them all, and that goes to Julia as we mentioned above. We first saw her in 2010, and since then she’s appeared 10 more times. Her popularity has waned slightly in recent years, but she’s still consistently popular.

Checking out the Oldies

Now, to look into some of the older names for the far past, and we began with Mieko Arai, the #1 of 2006. Amazingly, she had only 2 titles listed for the year, and that’s it for the JAV career. She was a long time Gravure model and member of the idol group GIRI GIRI☆GIRLS. She has notable for being one of the first Gravure models to jump over to porn which is now a regular thing. A real trendsetter at the time though. Still it’s kind of an amazing amount of interest for someone who only did two videos.

Then there’s Mariko, the #2 of 2006 who used the allure of mystery to snare in fans. They covered up her face big sunglasses and seemed to blur her face whenever she took it off. Apparently, she won some amateur search and was a special AV Gran Prix entry. She looks like a total gimmick and it worked on JAV fans. It also helps that she looks like a certified baddie with a hot body and a cool concept behind her videos over the usual cute and pure concepts.
