The Sights and Sounds of Taipei Red Expo 2024

Everyone is Here!

To name just a few, we saw big names like Saika Kawakita, Mio Ishikawa, Momo Sakura, Rei Kamiki, Mia Nanasawa, Ai Hongo, Mana Sakura, Arina Arata, Remu Suzumori, Airi Suzumura, and Konan Koyoi. We also saw newer and rising names like Mitsuri Nagahama, Ren Gojo, Marui Moeka, Rena Miyashita, and Shizuha Kitamoto. We also saw some returning faces like Meguri and Ena Koume. Stars big and small, old and new.

The Sights and Sounds

It might be super-sized, but TRE at its heart is just a fan event, and like all fan events, the attraction here is for people to meet the stars in person. Buying and signing merchandise, while taking photo ops. The event featured another showcase stage, this time coming back as a tiered sashimi and seafood rotating belt, moving the girls in a circle for fans to take pictures of. Meanwhile, on the main stage and in smaller booths, fans could interact with actresses in games and teases.

Mao Hamasaki Shock Announcement

In what is becoming a troubling trend is a shocking AV announcement around Taiwan. Last year we saw Minami Aizawa announce her immediate retirement while attending Taiwan Adult Expo (TAE). This year Mao Hamasaki announced on TRE’s main stage of her own retirement. Over hundreds of videos to her name, the veteran has been around a decade plus in porn. A truly wild performer, she bows out with an all-time career. Let's hope this doesn’t become a trend.

Umi Redeemed

Last year, Umi Yatsugake of Prestige died on stage. Completely freezing up on stage when trying to greet the locals in their native Mandarin. Living out the little nightmare of anyone who has had to speak in public. Props to her for going back on the big stage and good thing she did as Umi killed it out there. Looking much more confident and relaxed. She also looked amazing in all of her outfits for the event, especially the classy blue gown.

Yu Tano is Prepared

Not making that mistake was Yu Tano. Who made sure to remember her Mandarin with a note tucked in between her massive breasts. Speaking of Yu Tano she made quite the impression with her massive cans barely contained in her white bikini. I wasn’t interested in her before but she looked very lively and fun during TRE, plus you know, those big ass boobs.

The Queen Overwhelmed

The clear main attraction was Saika Kawakita. Centered right in the marketing and when on stage. She was a big hit at the expo and crowds mobbed where she went. The JAV superstar was moved to tears near the end of the expo. Saika has been massively popular since coming back to porn and all that attention seems to be getting to her. She recently announced on her private fan club before TRE that she will be going on hiatus from events and activities, citing exhaustion. Attention and popularity are great but also probably a lot to handle when you get to Saika’s level. The reigning Queen deserves some rest.

Hands-on Demo

Most fans could only snap a picture of or with actresses. For a few lucky ducks, they got a more hands-on experience. Girls like Momo Sakura, Ibuki Aoi, Minamo, and Nozomi Ishihara gave fans a much more tactile meeting. However, the female fans were the luckiest of the bunch. There was one who had Arina Arata step on top of her. Why ask for a hug when a heel will do? Then we have Remu Suzumori meeting her female superfan, who she let get hands-on herself.

Now this is an afterparty. After a hard weekend of work, some of the girls got together to cool off poolside.

Where is Japan's Expo?

All of this is great for fans in Taiwan and actresses; however, it does raise the question: where is Japan’s Expo? Gone are the big industry-wide events in JAV from expos to award events. These events were dying out even before the pandemic, so that can’t be used as a reason. While actresses and studios do hold fan/press events, none compare to the scale of TRE. Imagine a big event that brings in actresses from all studios under one roof in Japan. It would be a hit for fans at home and bring in some tourism, no doubt.
