Is JAV MILF studio Venus Any Good?

Hey guys, Oppaira here. I often talk about Madonna being the best MILF studio but is that really the case? Well, probably yes, I don't think that's a debate. But what about some of the other studios? Venus is a well-established MILF studio that is doing their 15 year anniversary celebration now and I figured it would be a great time to do a deeper dive on them. Are they any good? Let's find out together.

You can see both some of the better MILF actresses and the better non-MILF actresses as well. A lot of the other small MILF studios tend to work with a lot of less desirable women but these actresses are pretty popular / well-established across the board. Sure, maybe they're not quite at their peaks but they're not no-name actresses by any stretch. They do work with plenty of unpopular names too.

Personally I think it's great to see them have such a wide cast. They're not afraid to capitalize on someone going freelance or someone not quite fitting the MILF vibe. At the same time, they know who their veterans are and go back to them a lot. I know I mentioned Mako, Kana, and Yu above, but there are plenty others like Yui Hatano, Nina Nishimura, Chisato Shoda, Yuri Honma, and many long-time favourites. They're also not afraid to just hire whatever random MILF comes in the door, and you get a mix of a lot of things. I think that there is no shortage of quality actresses getting work there so if your goal is simply to find someone you like, chances are you will.

While Venus does all sorts of different MILF plots and themes they tend to do things that are less grandiose. Where Madonna is willing to put in effort to get a good setting like an office space or give you a 20 actress video, Venus is happy to just book a small apartment and call it a day.

Venus also tends to have plots that are similarly less elaborate. They turn the nuance down quite a lot and give you something very simplistic like stepmom and her stepson or your stepmom's best friend. I find they tend to give you things with much more of a "what if" scenario, as if to hit on some deep, dark, secret desire you have. Like what if you had a shogi teacher who you started having sex with? Or what if your MIL worked a soapland an you ran into her there? Those are the kind of scenarios Venus tends to focus on and it's nice every once in a while to watch something so simple.

I find they also tend to play up visual cues more than dialogue, which I think most of us foreigners can appreciate. You notice this most of all with the solo masturbation scenes the actress tends to have. That scene seems to always be used to show the actress accepting her desire for the guy. Like it doesn't matter if it's her neighbour, stepson, etc. she's just seen masturbating to him. They also tend to use a lot of different outfits to make things work. You can get a wedding dress, for example, and do a lot of good on that premise.

I find that I go a bit back and forth with Venus on this one. There's something to be said about a plot that is simple and easy to follow, but when it's just two bedroom sex scenes and little else, it often falls a bit short. It feels like there's something spicy missing from the plot, or even just something interesting. Bedroom sex is as simplistic as it gets and no, changing to a futon instead doesn't really offer anything else. Not every video they release has this problem though, and if you look hard enough you will find some more interesting things (like up above). That being said, I do find that I enjoy the simplicity sometimes. Some videos have a nuance that over-complicates the video, or worse, makes it impossible to follow along without understanding Japanese. And perhaps even worse than all of that are videos where they sell you a promise they fail to deliver on. You always know what you're getting with Venus in an old reliable sort of way.

The runtime is really the biggest factor when it comes to watching Venus. Where the median is two hours and the average is perhaps more around 2.5 hours, Venus is the one studio putting out full-feature videos at a sub two hour duration. In fact, I've seen videos as short as 80 minutes from them.

To me that's the real selling factor from them. As odd as it sounds these shorter videos have a certain charm to them. Two hours is a long video and that's assuming it's not just randomly a three or four hour video just because. Sometimes you don't want to watch a video that long, you're a little bit tired or something and just want to get off and be on your way. That's where Venus is king. They let you get all of the goodness you want from JAV while not keeping you forever. A lot of what comes out of the video is the plot, so they really do give you everything you need in that condensed time frame.

Venus' directing tends to be more practical. They're less concerned with more interesting camera angles or fancy setups and just straight to the point. Here's the action, we'll keep the lights on, let you have a good look.

Honestly I quite enjoy their directing. Sometimes directors do cool things but just as easily directors do strange things that don't work. Venus' directing just always works and there's a certain comfort level knowing that the video won't do something silly to make you hate it. I'm never going to watch them wondering why it was too dark, why things were too far away, or why they were having sex out in a porta-potty.

This is probably their most iconic series as it has so many entries in it. The series has been running for 10+ years which should tell you all you need to know. The premise is extremely simple, your stepmom's best friend is in town and you end up having sex with her. As I've mentioned about their plots, it's a very simple plot of you being in close proximity to a hot older woman and letting that be the entirety of the film. It doesn't really do anything other than you're alone with her and you have some fun. Your stepmom kind of assumes the two of you would be mature around each other, not realizing mature meant something completely different. Maybe it's wrong but like, she's so hot how can you not?

This is one of the more interesting series from them just because it has an actual premise that isn't quite so low effort. Teachers aren't necessarily a complex theme it's just more than the nothing that other things are. The premise is super simple that you and your teacher are lovers but I also don't think it needs to be more than that. Teacher videos get by utilizing visuals more than anything which is where Venus shines, so this series is perfect for them. Get us together in the classroom or any other setting at school and I'll have a good time, even if you're lazy and go back to an apartment in the end.

These jailbreak videos have always been something special. The thought of a hot older woman showing up to your place and just attacking you for some sex, holy moly. It's definitely tricky to get the performance right, but I like the fact that this series just frames things a little different and takes advantage of the fact that Venus uses a simple setting. It's not a series they've done a ton of entries in but it's probably the best thing they've produced.

Honestly I am torn with Venus and I'm not sure if I should love them or hate them.

Looking at some stats there are some very opposing stats. They are ranked 12th for most videos seen by a studio, which is quite high. On the flip side, they're ranked 24th (out of 24) for average video rating (among studios with 25+ reviewed). In a nutshell - I keep watching their videos despite them being terrible.

I think it seems obvious why I keep going back to them and there's a few key reasons:

1. They have nice actresses I enjoy, especially some where Venus is the best they get.
2. Mako Oda for example, has her best videos these days at Venus
3. Their short runtime is just what you need sometimes.
4. Sometimes I don't have time to watch Lord of the Rings: the Porn of the King, I want to watch something short and sweet.
5. I have a disproportionate preference for big titty MILFs which is something Venus does a lot of

If anything, I think the answer is that they're bad. I think the reason is that their videos are too simple. I like videos doing something a little different or just trying to give you variety. The fact that even their teacher films end up back at an apartment goes to show how strong their roots to "the bedroom" ultimately are. And while that's the most natural setting for anyone to use that doesn't change the fact that it's also the simplest and lamest one.

I will give them credit that they have short films and a nice range of MILFs. That ends up leading me to my conclusion that they're good every once in a while. I think they're best viewed when you don't have the energy for a full video and nothing more. I'd rather only watch them for that reason and not let them overstay their welcome.
