BREAKING: JAV Industry Witnesses Substantial Migration In January's First Half

Published : January 13th, 2024 Written by trapstar

Hey there! Starting off the year with a quick rundown of the latest stories that made headlines in January.

Jun Kasui Indefinitely Suspends AV Activities

Jun Kasui's decision to hit the brakes on her AV career is in the news, lately. At just 22, she's calling it a day on her career, taking an indefinite break after dropping her past archives in January 2024. "I have decided to take an indefinite break from working as an adult film actress after the release of the JAV in January 2024."

I mean, seriously, she's making quite the statement, announcing her hiatus and all but for now, Jun might’ve taken a page from the current fad of actresses ditching the regular AV scene for fan events.

But she intends to do it at a slower pace considering her repeated health problems, and who can blame her? Health stuff can be a real drag, and she's been dealing with it for a while now. Jun said, "After January, I will continue activities in other forms, such as events, albeit at a slower pace."

Jun was last seen in S1’s work, this previous month acting as naive female employee who gets groomed by her male superior during office hours and later ends up being too cozy with the guy. With this recent statement, she has indefinitely chosen to suspend all her filming activities, making fans wonder if she'll make a comeback down the line.

But hold up, have you seen this girl? Jun has got that ‘mass appeal’ look, like, for real. First thing that comes to mind when I hear her mention is ofcourse the exquisitely petite frame and her perky nipples that stand out. Our in-house writer Fried Chikan sang praises of her in his review of the actress, called her an absolute freak of a performer in bed. Seems like her looks and performance has left fans pretty darn impressed.

"Due to repeated health problems, I am not planning to return to filming in adult films for a while at this time." This month onwards, Jun's hitting pause on all her filming gigs. Fans, of course, are crossing their fingers and hoping she'll make a comeback later in the year. But for now, she's taking a breather, and hey, good for her. With the recent demise of Nanami Yokomiya, it’s a moral duty for these actresses to take time out for themselves.

Who knows, maybe we'll see her back in action sooner than we think. But for the time being, it's all about Jun Kasui's ‘indefinite break’ from the AV scene after emptying her archives. Stay tuned, folks!

JAV Duo Set To Disband In March

Some of y’all might not have been aware of Minami Kojima and Mana Sakura’s side quest that has been around for quite a while now. These two powerhouse AV performers kicked off as Otome Frappuccino back in 2013, as a sub-unit of another girl band Sexy-J, that they both were part of. But the name game got the better of them, and they changed to Otome Friday in 2017 due to a trademark snafu.

Fast forward to 2023, a whole decade of jamming together, the duo seems to be heading their own way. But like they say, all good things come to an end so they seem to be pulling the plug on this gig. The duo is set to announce the disbandment of their affiliation after a live performance on 9 March 2024. You can snag those tickets early to make sure you don't miss out on the last final performance scheduled for later this year. As per the band’s offcial handle, tickets start at 3.9k yen and go upto 18k for VIP seatings. The news comes after the live performance of the duo from earlier last month.

"Friday, the music unit formed by Minami Kojima and Mana Sakura, has announced that their activities will end after their last live performance on March 9th."

So, to spill the tea from last month's gig in December, Mana was all about gratitude on Twitter, giving shoutouts to the fans who showed up. Minami jumped on that train too, but then things took a turn when she flashed what looked like an engagement ring in her tweet. Oh, the frenzy that followed! Fans were spiraling, speculating about wedding bells, only to get a reality check later. Turns out it was just a regular ol' ring she picked up for stage flair as she explained, "I thought it would be cute if I had a sparkle on my hand when I hold the mic at a gig."

Subsequent to Minami's accidental bait-and-switch, her socials have flooded with tweets, not about weddings, but about the disbandment news. Fans poured out their love, sharing memories with the duo. The coming to an end of a long standing affiliation is kinda heartbreaking, you know.

One fan wrote below the tweet, "After crowdfunding, the project was dissolved. They have even achieved their goal of an album, which I am sure they are happy with. I feel puzzled and saddened by the news of the break-up. I can't say congratulations from the bottom of my heart, but I wish you all the best until the end, just like Zenny's. We wish you both continued success as you move forward on your new path."

On the workfront, Minami Kojima will be next seen in S1’s work where she plays a mistress entangled in a steamy affair with her coworker while on the other hand Mana Sakura was last seen in a SOD JAV that is inspired straight out of a manga. Makes for an interesting watch!

Anyway, mark your calendars for that final show. Who knows what surprises they'll pull? With these two, it's bound to be one heck of a sendoff.

Hinata Himari Closes Down On Her AV Career

Here’s a latest scoop from the JAV industry. Y’all know Himari Hinata right? Well, the S1 exclusive actress, just announced that she’s set to film her farewell movie later this year in February, with the JAV set to hit screens in July 2024. However, she refuses to be called retired and prefers the term ‘graduating’ from JAV. Hinata said, "I have been taking a break from filming since the summer, but after the filming in February and the release in July, I have decided to graduate from being an adult film actress."

It could be that she’s laying it out because she’s hitting that age milestone, compared to a college grad, which kinda explains her whole 'graduating' stance, now that she’s 21. Himari started out back in August 2022 as Aoi Hinata, but did a name switcheroo to the current one in October 2023 but yet remained exclusive to her office, S1.

"When I was 19 I was taken advantage of my weakness and lured into starting a job as an adult film actress. I was also conflicted about whether I could deliver the work I was filming with such feelings. I'm sorry I couldn't do my best, even though there were people who supported me."

In a latest statement, she revealed of not being fully committed to pursuing AV at the time of debut and was lured into starting off in the adult industry as an actress. Further goes on to state that she really didn’t love the whole idea of filming AV at first, but hey, fans and supporters can work wonders.

"The encounters with people I love, the events I organised, the Miljene stage I've always admired, the encounters with my favourite fans who scooped out a little warmth from my clumsy, inept life and words and told me how wonderful I was, I'm sure all of these things were made possible because of this place, and I'm sure I wouldn't have been here without it. I think I had to be here. I have been brought up in such a way that I should stay in the dark, that I should not aim for the light, but I have received so much kind and warm light that I can hardly pretend not to notice it."

Over time, she got the love, felt the vibe, and found it all kinda worthwhile. It’s like she's saying, “Yeah, I wasn’t feeling it at the start, but y’all made it worth my while.” In a way, her experience helped her realise that she could venture into other oppurtunities while talking about her dark past, although we can’t particularly make a claim on her background until we know what exactly happened.

Hinata further mentioned about a regret that she'd have while not pursuing AV, "If I have any regrets, it would be that when I made my debut, one of my favourite people said to me that it was time to pass the baton on to someone else, and I couldn't keep my promise to myself that I would pass the baton on to someone else when I quit. But I'm sure I didn't drop it, so I'll change lanes and keep on running."

Now, Hinata intends to pursue fan events solely as she mentioned in her statement "The rest of the time I will be able to meet everyone, photo session, DVD event, photo exhibition (spring to summer). I want to cherish every single time I can spend with my favourite people more than ever."

And here’s the juicy part of this story, she’s eyeing new goals now. Something about her experience making her realize there’s more to life than just JAV. No specific deets on her past, but it is clear from her words that she stands confident to pursue whatever she plans on next and the AV industry has somewhat acted as a launchpad for her next gig. "Now I have found what I want to do and I am gradually preparing for it. It is not something that someone asked me to do, but undeniably a dream that I found on my own timing. I'm sure I'll still be supported by many people."

In my assumption, her next gig will be most likely be that of a stage performer as she dropped a hint at the end of the statement. Despite having tasted a career as a JAV artist, she still harbours the desire to become a member of the idol group Ebisu Muscats which has not been fulfilled because the band has already been disbanded. Hinata mentioned, "If the Muscats come back, I might be a performer with an unrecognisable face"

She admitted to be taking a break from filming since the previous summer and we did find out she is right when we fact checked, since her previous JAV released earlier last year.

Bottom line? Himari’s looking forward, eyes set on new gigs, leaving the JAV scene but not exactly waving goodbye. Graduating, not retiring, and definitely keeping us all on our toes about what’s coming next. Stay tuned, folks!

In another news we have RanRan calling it a day on her career. Nope, not the mainsream RanRan Fuji we all instantly think of, but the other RanRan — yeah, that one. Making an announcement via her X handle, raking in a crazy 70k+ impressions, the actress let her fans know that she’d had enough of filming JAV.

In her statement, RanRan explained "A lot has happened in the years since my first photo shoot. I actually decided to retire a year ago. I'm thankful for this industry, and I've been able to do a lot of work on it, and in my mind, I've done all the AV stuff! ! That feeling became stronger, and I started wanting to take on the next challenge. This resulted in my retirement."

She spilled that this decision wasn't a spur-of-the-moment thing. She'd toyed with the idea before but brushed it off. But things are different now, she has set a date and is firm about it. But before she waves goodbye to the scene, she's got one last gig lined up: a KMP exclusive JAV drama. Picture this, a ‘back to school’ plot filmed entirely with RanRan starring alongside four other JAV actresses, Erika Osaka, Asuka Momose & Amiri Saito.

But there’s even more exciting news here with RanRan diversifying her portfolio big time. She has invested time on a gig after transitioning from AV. She has setup a myfans account and will post fan exclusive adult content on the platform. Can't help but give her props for that entrepreneurial spirit!

Oh and how could I not mention, that she’s about to appear alongside the legendary Maria Ozawa in an adult expo later this year scheduled to be held in Taiwan from 26-28 later this January. So, that’s an exciting story around her retirement!
