Timing and Translation by ZENRA

This is a really, really unique movie and I'm almost at a loss as to how to even open up the review. Allow me to first backtrack to a previous ZENRA update from not too long ago and we'll move from there: not too long ago we showed a pretty unique movie by DREAMROOM that took their 'live TV' concept to where the sun (and cameras) don't shine. This was a pretty weird movie for them and it had a certain standout element: the sex was always totally covered by either a translucent panel or later on simply by paper. The performers did such a good job not a pixel was needed (and if anyone who has seen their movies by now knows they don't need them to begin with!). Japanese fans hated it, ours, fortunately were a lot kinder. But of course, the 'obscured sex' idea is out of the box and being able to show another movie that heavily utilizes this theme is an opportunity we could not ignore.

That preamble brings us to today's update which at a glance may make one think it's just an offshoot of THE PRIVATE PARTS GUESSING GAME, but no, this may visually have similarities from the busty actresses to the everyone's pregnant conclusion (really, this is no spoiler if you've ever seen any and even the trailer notes it!), but while it is a game show and does feature a cute lady (YUKA HIROSE) in a red happi, this is a movie that's actually based on a card game that until now I never knew about: WEREWOLF. Wikipedia notes that it is a "social deduction game" and scrolling down the page leads to some pretty complex rules. It does look fun though! The setup for our intensive purposes sees three groups where the old man in each needs to decide whether his incredibly well-proportioned wife is really engaging in sexual acts of increased craziness. If after each round he thinks she's doing it for real, he raises up a Wolf and if faking it, a Villager. Obviously, the rules of Werewolf have been simplified for JAV, but this still is VERY different from the norm.

What's funny is that since the sex is sometimes faked for real, we get what in other movies--even those by ROCKET--may normally be seen as bloopers, but here are anything but. Giving a blowjob to an actual hot dog? Check. Squeezing big breasts from half a meter away? Yup. All out raw sex but in reality it's just sumata shot at a great angle? You got it. Aside from the final all out conception sex game (of course), each scene more or less follows this format: two groups are faking it, one is not and it's up to our old men to decide what's really going on! And you too! For each game starts with the cameras placed at angles where even the viewer can't deduce what's really happening (I admit for the blowjob round, it was easy to tell right away simple via hand placement of two of the men and I'm surprised the director did not have all three place their hands the same way!).

The casting is almost too perfect. We get an almost who's who of busty kikatan JAV stars of the modern era: YURIA YOSHINE, WAKA MISONO before she slimmed down, and ZENRA newcomer MONAMI TAKARADA whom I may get weird glances for writing this, but facially and also in the voice reminds me a lot of JUNE LOVEJOY. Have they ever done anything together...? YUKA HIROSE, already noted above, is the host and out of all the non-RIRI KOUDA female hosts ROCKET has employed over the years, she just may be the best of them. This doesn't mean others are bad (far from it!), but I felt she really knew when to get in there and rock her job and when to take a step back. In other words, she was perfectly utilized and even was mischievously patting an erection partway through which in modern JAV with strict rules with sex performers and "extras" makes me wonder if that was planned or not (not hating, give us more!).

THE WEREWOLF GAME - WHO IS BANGING WHO?! is near perfect. I only have two issues: there's no proper introduction in the actual movie; it goes right into the interview--almost jarringly so! The sound also is good overall but it does appear like a boom mic for at least some it was not used. They still did a good job but it's a slight technical quirk I hope they don't do again when the sequel--whenever that will be--comes out. This is a super unique theme, an all around excellent movie with casting as good as it gets (among kikatan so please don't asking why YU TANO is not here, she's "too good" for this type of movie apparently). The theme is on any measure one of a kind and what ROCKET set out to do, they did with gusto. More!
