JAV Hall of Fame - Ballot Preview - Class of 2016

Hey guys, Oppaira here. If you haven't seen we've started building up a JAV Hall of Fame. To keep it brief, 2016 is the first year and any actress who debuted in 2006 or earlier and has filmed in 2006 or later is eligible. If you want to see more, you can view my Hall of Fame hub post here. As a reminder, only five actresses can make it in. With that said let's go see hwo the frontrunners are in this year.

Our first class includes a lot of the greats from history. As it turns out, most of the actresses we all know and love qualify under this criteria. A lot of it come down to when exactly when they debuted but there are plenty who have been around for many years.

Sora Aoi is perhaps the first major name of the modern era. In fact, one might call her the beginning of the era. She debuted right as DVDs were being adopted in the industry and many people know her legacy. In fact, I think many people know the Namewee song that goes "but I love Aoi Sora!". I'm not much of a betting man but if I were I would bet on Sora.

If there was any other name that could compete with Sora for the queen at the beginning of the modern era it would be Maria Ozawa. A lot of people I know got their start in JAV with Maria and she seems poised to do well and make it into the Hall of Fame.

Who do you think about when you think about longest careers in JAV? Yumi Kazama is the name that always comes to mind for me. Her career started in the 90s, and even if she doesn't have quite the longest career I've seen it's definitely the longest that is both unbroken and is still going strong. Maybe people don't really think about Yumi's career as being as prolific because of how steady it has been for many years, but it's hard to ignore a career that's at 25+ years and she surely deserves to make it in.

It wouldn't be a Hall of Fame without considering someone from Idea Pocket's glory days, and right off the bat we have Kaho Kasumi. She was a sweetheart that was all kind of wonderful, and truly one of the greats among the best era of Idea Pocket. Surely she will make it in, right?

Of course the golden age of Idea Pocket wouldn't stop with just Kaho. There are several actresses that debuted around this time and plenty more we'll see over the coming debut classes, but how about taking a trip down memory lane to Rio. Whether you remember her as Rio, Tina Yuzuki, or even need to call her both for people to remember exactly, she was one of the shining lights of the early days of Idea Pocket. Only question is, with a ballot this stacked will she hold up?

Of course more S1 names would be on this list and we can't forget about Yuma Asami. Even if her career was cut tragically short, many fans still remember her fondly as one of the best they've ever seen. Her spunky attitude made her a mainstay on S1's roster for a long time and she was really one of the major driving forces as the modern era began.

If we talk about S1 and Yuma Asami we can't forget Yuma's friend Akiho Yoshizawa. Known by her fans as just Acky, she spent many years as a shared exclusive between both S1 and Maxing of all places. Acky has been retired for about six years, but most of the voters were big on JAV in Acky's peak and know her as one of the greats. In fact, when our very own jta wrote about the best actress of all time, guess who placed number one?

Tsubomi is easily one of the most recognizable names we've seen pretty much ever. So much so that even back in 2012 when DMM voters voted on the greatest actress of all time, Tsubomi was #1. That was 10 years before she retired. To think that less than half way into her 15 year career she was already the #1 actress of all time, it pretty much means she has to make the list, right?

Rio Hamasaki is perhaps the original oppai goddess. Maybe there were actresses bustier than her but I can't think of those that were equally as busty with as legendary of a career. In a period where short careers were quite normal or being exclusive was a major attraction, Rio spent years being a freelancer and doing wonderful things. Her breasts are equally seen as legendary and she's definitely one of the frontrunners for the first ballot.

If there's one actress that bridged the old and the new it's Yuria Satomi. Yuria, managed a very lengthy career, starting way back in 2004 and continuing all the way until the early 2020s. I always felt like you could tell someone was an old-timer based on how favourably they viewed Yuria, as she had a lot of her success in the early days of the modern era. That being said, she's definitely got the resume for the Hall of Fame and if even Floyd Mayweather thinks she's good enough for him, I think she'll be good enough for the Hall of Fame.

And there we have our preview of the 2016 class. Who do you think will make it in? As a reminder, most of the wonderful ladies will not make it in.
