JAV Battle: Train or Beach Setting?

Train settings are rather unique and most commonly used in JAV, unlike in western pornography. This is likely due to Japan's culture, what with the large widespread usage and convenience of trains, and this cultural significance likely helps contribute to why the genre of JAV is so common. Trains are usually densely packed with people, making the atmosphere quite tense, and because of the nature of trains and the presence of the crowd, there is also no real "escape" from a situation, adding to the fetish factor.

The "forbidden" aspect involved in a train JAV is part of the erotic fantasy - with so many people present, you know you'd get caught for sure performing lewd activities, and you also know it isn't proper to do this either. Trains are an odd setting too when you think about, as while they are an outdoor space, they can also be quite private due to how compact they can be. Something inappropriate could happen completely unintentionally due to the proximal nature of using a train. Carrying out perverse deeds could be realistically plausible, and train JAV can cater to these fantasies with movies that are more "secretive" and follow the mindset of "trying not to get caught".

Of course, there's also the other, more blatant appeal of train-sex JAV, in that there's excitement in being watched by a huge crowd of people. While trains can be strangely secretive, the gathering of a large group of people can also mean some situations could be completely devoid of privacy. Sex scenes could have the crowd staring on out of curiosity or arousal, baring witness to the perverse activities and making the situation more lewd. It even makes for a great opportunity for the crowd to start joining in, allowing for huge orgies and situational lewdness. Train settings are just so versatile that they make for a great setting for a number of different fetishes.

There is the subtle theme of "constraint" as well with a train-set JAV - much like in reality, sometimes a person's mind wanders. You could be riding on a train and see a pretty girl nearby and start fantasizing in your head - a train JAV essentially takes those "what-if" fantasies and makes them reality without any actual harm. In a train JAV, male actors are unable to resist the "constraint" that is crucial to a functioning society, allowing pure, unadulterated human instinct to play out for the entertainment of watchers.

There are some negative aspects to the train setting though, and one reason is the crowd itself. On occasion, train JAV can just feel too claustrophobic, especially if the crowd isn't really contributing to the scene. Sometimes you just want that one dude in the crowd to move out of the way so the actress can stretch out a little more, but some would agree that's likely part of the appeal. That said, it feels like the actors are limited in their movements due to the confined space combined with the other people in the crowd, so it's like the movie has to play ball with what it has, and that can feel limiting.

Expectations also play a bit into the negatives of a train JAV. When a train interior appears on-screen, a lot of watchers have very specific expectations of what's about to happen. It could also be argued that train JAV are also limited in fantasy: either something will happen secretly, or it will be blatant, and there will almost always be a crowd of some sort (though whether they play an impact or not depends). It just feels like train JAV only have so many ideas that can be used, whereas a beach JAV has the freedom and space to do a lot more in comparison.

Actress performance is also key, as a lot of the time, situations require the actress to express that duality of "fear and desire" that defines a train scenario. Male actors must convey that almost primal sensation that is associated with a train setting, with the allure of being close to other people, along with the sensations of risk and loss of control. These can be difficult to portray properly, and while I don't think they're 100% necessary, a train JAV is made much better with it.

As I mentioned before, beaches feel like the opposite of a train setting, as they are usually devoid of other people than the main actors, and are much less limited in terms of what they can do. Of course, there are expectations, as per usual: swimsuits, exposed skin, playing around, bodies moistened and gleaming from seawater. All or some of these things are typically what watchers want to see on a beach setting in a JAV.

While trains feel compacted and restrained, a beach feels a lot more playful. The lighting, the pacing, even the mood, everything seems more positive, whereas trains feel imposing - like something serious is expected to happen. Beaches are the perfect setting for the female actresses to show off their charm and playfulness too, giving a greater level of depth to the women beyond being an object of sexual desire. We could see her playing around, being flirty in her swimsuit, or tease the men. The beach is a great setting for fun and positive feelings, more so than normal settings, like say in a home or at a hotel or office.

Beaches also naturally implies swimsuits on the female actresses, and as we all know, there is an absolute crazy amount of different swimsuits out there that actresses can wear. Whether they be modest, sexy, revealing, or just down-right lewd (like micro-bikinis), swimsuits can help establish the mood of a scene in a beach JAV, and it's almost always the perfect opportunity to "surprise" the viewer with a cute or sexy design - they're one of the main ways a beach JAV can stand out from others.

Nudity is also an appealing part of the beach, as nudity here is much different from other more common settings in JAV. With the hot sun glaring down causing the actresses to sweat, or sand getting stuck to her body, or her body gleaming from the water, there's a visual sexiness to beach exhibitionism that is quite different and uniquely erotic. There's also the fact that the beach is an outdoor setting, so there's also the allure of potentially being spotted by others, be it just nudity or sexual acts.

Beach settings are also incredible on a visual level, with stunning sunsets and glimmering oceans, they can be a wonderful backdrop to any scene, not just one that involves sex. In terms of an actual sex scene, the beach can be a bit messy on occasion, but it can be romantic as well. Sand can be quite cumbersome and annoying, but the thought of having sex in an outdoor space while the woman wears a sexy swimsuit, all with a wonderful ocean and sunset in the background, is peak fantasy.

On that same topic, there are a few negatives to the beach too. As mentioned before, the sand can be annoying as it sticks to actors and can look messy. Uneven ground could make sex in the sand a bit difficult from the perspective of the actors, not to mention having to sit in the sun for extended periods of time to get a scene just right. There is some degree of a beach JAV looking "fake" and not believable too, as sex on a beach in such a wide and open area wouldn't be very possible in reality. Of course, that's a very minor consequence as JAV is often meant to depict fantasy, even if it has a tendency to try and stay grounded.

The most obvious negative to beach JAV though is how few of them there are: at least in my experience. I barely see any JAV where sex scenes take place specifically on the sandy beach, and I guess the reason for that is rather obvious. It really would be nice to see more beach JAV!
