I think we finally have a pretty good idea of what’s next for Riri Nanamori. Not gonna lie, this one came as a bit of a surprise.

Riri Natsumori has announced that she will be taking a hiatus from JAV after her upcoming release scheduled for September 22. There is currently no set date for when she’ll resume filming JAVs, which means that after September, we may have to wait quite a while before seeing another JAV from her. But why now?

There’s actually a pretty good reason she chose August 19 to make the announcement. Apparently, it marked the sixth anniversary of her debut, so she felt it was the right time to share the news with fans. Interestingly enough, Riri had originally planned to retire after five years in the industry. But somehow, six years have already passed.

And recently, she says she’s gradually been losing the motivation to go to JAV sets. Riri had seriously started thinking about retirement, but then something happened that completely changed her perspective. A makeup artist she’s known since her debut told her: “It’d be such a shame to quit right away. Why don’t you take a break for a while and come back when you’re ready?”

And that seems to have been the moment Riri realized that retirement didn’t necessarily have to be the only option. Why not just take a break?

Once she made up her mind, both her agency and production company quickly supported the decision. An S1 producer even told her: “Take a good rest. You can come back whenever you want!”

That might’ve taken a huge weight off her shoulders. Riri had already been struggling with her motivation to film JAVs. Still, once she knew that every new project was bringing her closer to her break, she admits she actually found herself enjoying the filming again. As a result, she ended up producing quite a few high-quality JAVs that she herself was really happy with.

That’s actually a pretty interesting way of looking at it. Instead of thinking about every new shoot as something she had to keep doing indefinitely, she could finally approach them knowing that she had a break waiting for her on the other side.

So how long will this hiatus last? Nobody knows better than Riri.

She hasn’t set an end date and says that if one day she suddenly finds herself thinking, “I want to film again,” then she’ll come back, and when she does, she wants everyone to see a more refreshed and energetic version of herself.

But what about her events? Well, there’s no need to worry too much about that. Even though we probably won’t be seeing new films from her anytime soon, Riri isn’t planning to disappear completely. In fact, starting this year, she’s been shifting more toward becoming an event-focused actress.

That means fans in Japan will still have plenty of opportunities to meet her in person. And if you can’t make it to an event, there’s always her TikTok livestreams.

So for now, I think the best thing we can say is simple: Take a good rest, Riri. You’ve earned it.
