JAV Sales Report - April 2025

Welcome to the April sales report. Let's go see what's been cooking this month.

Julia jumping up a bunch of positions is not the kind of thing you expect, which I guess partially is because you expect Julia to be doing well in the first place. May has what I would call an interesting release for her and people naturally flock to interesting. She isn’t known for her ass and I don’t think it’s special, but I’ve also had people see this video and claim it’s not that bad. Personally I think her ass is her worst physical quality by far, but that might be more so due to how excellent her other qualities are. Either way, it’s nice to see her shine and hopefully we can get more videos that aren’t just some generic MILF thing she’s done a dozen times already.

Mitsuri is someone I think makes sense for image videos, so seeing her shine in a month with one doesn’t surprise me. She hasn’t been cutting it as a performer for me but she has been very pretty and all around nice physically. I certainly do think image videos do better with better performances but when you don’t have to keep it up while getting pounded by a big cock it changes things completely. At any rate, I expect next month to have Mitsuri back down at the bottom without the extra boost.

Moe is seeing a resurgence right now because she’s about to retire. This is from her retirement film which comes out in June. I expect to see her high up on the list in June too and maybe in July as well as people get their last hurrah from her, but after that I expect her to fall off pretty hard. Sure, Moe is a 10+ year veteran in the industry but you don’t see a lot of retired actresses doing that well. The physical sales top 25 has nothing and the digital has just Yu Shinoda, one of the all-time greats. There’s a big difference between being a solid veteran and being one of the top 10 or 20 all-time, and Moe isn’t quite that.

Reiko showing a resurgence like this is a bit of an enigma to me. We almost never talk about her because she almost never does well. Part of that is due to Reiko being at a low point in her career, only getting mediocre opportunities. And it shows not just in the releases she has but also in the releases she doesn’t have. Her Giga release from three months ago is her last release which is what makes it surprising.

Akari’s impending retirement is a sad time but at least she’s going out with a bang. It’s not the first time that I’ve seen this but it’s really not as common as I’d love it to be. I remember back to when Meguri did this in 2017 and man it was a treat, I was watching Meguri all the time that year. She went from being a Tameike Goro exclusive to me watching over two dozen releases from that year (which is double the output and not even every video she released). This is how retirements really should be and I’m really glad to see Akari making the most of it. We’re sort of just starting to see what her freelancing can do but she’s done well as a freelancer throughout her career. It’s always nice to see this especially when it goes from an exclusive, which as a reminder Akari was at Honnaka / Das. Either way I hope there’s a little more in the tank before she’s gone for good.

Riho is up a ton of spots and I think is in a bit of an interesting situation. She was quite popular a few years ago but her career was always tossing and turning with whether she was freelance or exclusive. That also tracks a lot with her career in general as she’s had so many different names your head would spin trying to keep track. That’s usually not the sign of a good career but being with Madonna usually is, which is where she finds herself these days. I think most people kind of glanced over her becoming an exclusive there, I know I certainly did. The facial work she got became a turnoff for me as she just doesn’t look like she used to. Will we continue to see Riho do well? I kind of don’t anticipate it but who knows, maybe Madonna really is what she needs.

Ako is hopefully the real deal. I say that only because here debut isn’t quite that crazy. She makes a spot in the top 25, sure, but she’s not a first or second position debut like many others are. Ako seems a bit too mature for the typical S1 vibes, and the actresses in that range they keep tend to be home grown talent. Maybe that means there’s room for Ako, I don’t know. Competition is becoming fierce in the ultra-huge space at S1. I feel like her darker “pepperoni” areola won’t be for most, but we shall hope more people learn about how nice she looks. I’m also just incredibly biased because a more mature debut with 108L cup boobs is literally exactly what I want, so I selfishly want her to be a stand out debut.

What an odd name Tiny is and it’s just that, Tiny, nothing else according to the cover. The video, a debut film, was also interestingly filmed by Samoari for Waap in Taiwan, even more oddities. If I’m understanding correctly from the interview at the start, she’s from Taipei, which makes sense why it was filmed in Taiwan. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a non-Japanese debut from elsewhere in the world, the last being Erena from Hong Kong a couple of years back. I’m all for interesting debuts like this and she looks decent, so we’ll have to see if they make something interesting of her and get some quality stuff. I must admit that debuting for Waap is odd enough that my hopes aren’t high, but the sales are at least promising so far.

All roads point to Kanna Seto, or at least that’s how it feels these days. She’s at the top of every list I can see and she’s really convincing people just what a star she is. What’s most surprising is the run she’s giving Saika. I just assumed Saika at the top was a done deal but Kanna is proving that isn’t the case. I was looking at her debut progress the other day with Fried Chikan and the signs are really encouraging. She's no Saika just yet (who interestingly, on the physical sales chart has only dipped below TOP THREE once since her redebut) but she's outpacing every other debut I can see. And given who I am, I'm happy it's someone as busty as her.

Iyo continues to be a weird one for me because of her lactation. She gives you just enough to know it’s there but never enough for you to feel good about it. At least she’s adorable on social media and in her films too. I still want to see some more interesting concepts thrown her way, because generic NTR stuff just doesn’t suit her. Her next month release is her being impregnated which the stars are aligned for, but I doubt they will use the lactation properly. I'll wait for someone to tell me they do it right because she's been popular enough that someone I know will inevitably watch it and let me know. Which I guess is a good sign that a MILF debut is that well received. Here's hoping!

Kokoro Asano (浅野こころ) and Niko Kawagoe (川越にこ) are back to back on the bookmate rankings this month, which is very unsurprising given they had a release together. S1 really doesn’t do enough of these kind of videos so it’s great to see, especially for two that fit this schoolgirl vibe so well. It’s also filmed by Nao Masaki so you know it’ll be an absolute banger. Perhaps a little interesting to see Kokoro slightly edge out Niko, but in my mind it’s more interesting that they came in at adjacent spots because usually there’s a little more discrepancy, even in situations like this.

Speaking of S1 we have another popular actress in Kiho Kanematsu (金松季歩) showing some more love this month. Kiho struck me as someone who had acting potential but S1 is doing the S1 thing and just giving her constant generic releases. This is probably my least favourite part about the studio because I just want stuff that isn’t bland. An actress has to be really special for me to be interesting in watching her have sex in a warehouse for the 10th time in a year, and yet they keep doing that with her. One of these days she’ll get something… I hope.

Sayuri Hayama (葉山さゆり) is someone I didn’t expect to see on this list if I’m being perfectly honest. Leaving Madonna isn’t a great sign, especially not when the highlight of your releases is for Celebrity Friends. She never struck me as being the outgoing type to make the most of a freelance career like that and it shows. I would genuinely be surprised if she continues to maintain a top spot unless she suddenly starts getting some quality stuff.

Mary Tachibana (橘メアリー) has been blowing me away these last few months and it’s really sad to see her announce her retirement. Right as I finally started to enjoy her she calls it quits. Mary has been quite interesting to me because despite her having a 10+ year career it has only been the last couple of years where Mary’s beauty has finally blossomed. I look at her earlier stuff and see someone who looks very mediocre but these days she looks fantastic. It’s a really interesting case because there aren’t a lot of veterans like her that I just randomly start enjoying like this, and I think in general everyone has been way more into Mary lately. Even studios are giving her interesting things like this Maryverse thing Das has been doing. I kind of wish they had expanded it a little more but I’ll at least be happy with what we got and remain hopeful someone else can explore it just like her.

Haru Minami (みなと羽琉) continues to be a real sour spot for me. I really want to love her but it’s hard with her filming being so inconsistent. I know why and I’m not surprised but you’d think that S1 would push more for her to film at least the one video a month. I’m going to knock on wood that she’s back for a little bit with these four straight releases (she has one in June too) because she has a lot of potential to be my favourite at S1 if she stays consistent.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Hinako Mori (森日向子) is one of a recent stream of actresses joining onto Moodyz as an exclusive. Just as One Piece always points out that it’s The Great Pirate Era, I’d call this The Great Exclusive Era for JAV. Exclusives are shining like no tomorrow these days and they’re all seemingly going to major studios. As much as it might suck I also can’t argue when the studios are Moodyz, Madonna, S1, etc. It’s definitely better than some of the lower quality stuff we could see instead, and hopefully Moodyz will make the best of Hinako.

Just as I mentioned above that this is The Great Exclusive Era, Riho Shishido (宍戸里帆) is one of the few actresses going the other way, having left her exclusivity at Moodyz early this year. I’m glad to see some making the most of it, especially Riho who I think has a ton of potential as a freelancer. She can really perform and these two videos from May both look incredible to me. Riho feels a bit like a numbers game to me where the more she films the more likely I am to find a video good enough to watch. I’m still hoping to see something a little more rough out of her just because she can really take it but even if she’s filming random stuff for Royal or Madonna I’ll be happy if this is the quality of it.

Momoko Isshiki (一色桃子) is one of those actresses that gets outshined at Madonna. Even on the Monroe label I think most people just lump it all together and that’s where I find she falters. It’s not that she is bad or anything, I actually like her a fair bit, but she just gets outshined with all the major actresses Madonna has scooped up in recent times. I suppose I also do find that Monroe as a label has a bit narrower of a focus where they seem to be highlighting more that the women are past their prime and reliving some sort of glory. I don’t necessarily hate that trope, in fact I quite enjoy it, but not when it’s so prevalent that it ruins other potentially good opportunities. Like I look at this release and it doesn’t seem like it’s anything special to me.
