Famous Hāfus in JAV: German, Italian, Spanish, and one famous French-Canadian

Today, we will be looking at some of the most famous Hāfus in JAV. From the big superstars to the veteran actresses, well-loved for their mixed-race background. For part 1 of our series with the Lesser Known Hāfus, click right here.

We start with the/my Hāfu Queen, Rio. Rio first started in 2005 as Tina Yuzuki before changing her name, and when she debuted, Rio was an instant star. She took honors as a Best New Actress award winner and would go on to work with heavyweights like MAX-A, S1, and later on Idea Pocket, who became her home until she finally retired in 2016. A true-blue star in JAV that starred in movies outside of porn, was a first generation Ebisu Muscats member, and late-night variety show regular. Fans loved Rio for her exotic looks, petite figure, dark complexion, enthusiastic performing, charming personality, and equally enthusiastic squirting. The Portuguese Hāfu, who was born outside of Japan, was also fluent in Portuguese and would show it off a few times on screen. Interestingly, Rio isn’t the only Portuguese Hāfu in JAV, as there are quite a few, and the reason for that is quite interesting and brings a little history lesson.

The Portuguese were the first Europeans to establish relations with Japan in the 16^th century (which people today might’ve learned from the TV show Shogun). This economic relationship brought on a cultural exchange between the two countries and has lasted to this day. Tempura, for example, was actually brought over by the Portuguese to Japan. The connection deepens when we add Brazil to the mix, which was for a time colonized by Portugal, and their main language is Portuguese too.

Brazil in the early 1900s needed cheap labor and found it in Japan, which resulted in a mass migration of Japanese to Brazil. Today, over 2 million Brazilians can trace their roots back to Japan, creating a lasting link between the three countries and the Portuguese culture. This is the reason why we see quite a few actresses with roots in Portuguese or Brazilian. You didn’t expect to learn some history tidbits from a porn blog, did you? But it does show that these Hāfu’s don’t just grow up on trees. There’s real history that resulted in them, and the end result in our case is the lovely Rio, and to that I say Saúde.

Now, for probably the most well-known, Hāfu of today with Maria Nagai. Now Maria Nagai being a Hāfu might not even cross most people’s minds when they first see her because their first and lasting impression is probably sticking their eyes back in their sockets when they see her big tits and massive ass. Tits and ass that have proven very popular with international fans especially the Americans who she says accounts for a vast majority of her personal fan club. Maria is a Quarter Spanish and Filipino, which is hard to tell with her tan and with all the work she has had done. She knows a little bit of Spanish. You can see a more natural Maria back when she first debuted as Kurumi Kashiwagi. Who, if not for her lips and beauty mark, I would not recognize at all. Fun fact, Maria Nagai took part of her stage name from Maria Ozawa as homage to the breakthrough Hāfu.

I don’t know of any instances of Maria speaking English or Spanish in her JAV titles. She does try speaking it to her international fans on her personal fan clubs. However, it’s clear she’s not familiar with either language very well at all but has been trying to learn them because of how many fans she has from America and Latin America.

Next, we have Tia, whose origin is difficult to pin down in many ways. Partly because she goes by a mononym and before that a bunch of other names like Meisa Kurokawa and Asama Alice. Then you have her going under the knife and changing her face like people change clothes. It’s hard to say what she looked like originally, and I don’t believe we have any photos of her pre-work, even with the earliest photos I could find.

Tia’s other half is listed by most as American, and in her own words, it’s complicated, as we see below. Life is complicated, and people’s backgrounds aren’t always black and white. What was simple was the fan’s love for Tia. People might’ve complained about her face work, but few complained about her figure. Absolute dynamite figure, I don’t care if it’s enhanced. Tia had a fantastically slim and curvy body during her peak, and it was something else.

Next is Saori Hara, who has a unique quarter German ancestry (not half as many other sites cite). She made waves as a gravure idol, Mai Nanami, when she moved to AV as Saori. Nowadays, she is better known as Miyabi Matsunoi. Not very connected with her German roots, as she can’t speak it at all. One look at Saori up close and you should see why Saori was popular during her time. Her quarter-German roots are quite visible on her face, but it’s her striking eyes that capture your attention. Gorgeously clear and deep brownish reddish eyes, what a looker.

Now for a bonus with Anri Okita, and this is another case of “No, not really” that needs clarification. Quite a few sites list her as a Hāfu, and quite a few fans think so too. I can see why, just take a look at her face, her body, and those massive tits and they all make you think she’s mixed somehow. However, that is not the case as Anri was born in the United Kingdom and raised for some time before moving back to Japan. She is fully Japanese ethnically, as far as we know, however, she does consider herself part British at least culturally. Just like with Yuria Yoshine and her Italian roots, Anri still feels close to her birthplace. So culturally close to the UK, but not a Hāfu.
