BREAKING: Yua Mikami's Surprise NETFLIX Debut!
Catch up on the most trending gossip that we had our eyes on in April
Recently, in a 'blink & you miss’ cameo of Netflix’s latest drama Sins of Kujo, Yua Mikami made a surprise cameo that has managed to hijack the fan conversation on X online!
And twenty seconds is all it took for her to make a lasting impact. And she had her fans locked in.
The show itself is hardly short on star power. You have a Cannes-nominated actor playing the lead role of Kujou Mato, a lawyer who doesn’t bother pretending to be righteous. He represents gangsters, con artists, the kind of clients most legal dramas conveniently avoid. Alongside him is Hokuto Matsumura, bringing that polished, elite contrast as a Tokyo University graduate navigating the same murky waters.
The drama operates in a grey area, but we’re not delving into it.
What we’re delving into, though, is how Yua stole the spotlight without even trying.
In the drama, Yua plays the role of “Shiraishi Momoka,” an AV actress who stumbles into a law office bruised, exhausted, and stripped of all dignity. Wearing a plain blue sweater, tired eyes, and a kind of quiet desperation that feels… almost too real.
And that’s where things get interesting. Because this wasn’t just stunt casting. If anything, it felt deliberate.
The moment her scene aired, social media lit up with instant recognition. “That’s Yua Mikami,” viewers pointed out within seconds.

Here’s what fans had to say: “The casting is very convincing.” “It makes the character more realistic,” another wrote
“It’s actually perfect for her to play this kind of role.”
This isn’t just about a cameo. It’s about tweaking perception. It’s how an actress who once dominated a JAV is now embedding herself in a mainstream role. And she couldn’t hold back.
Yua tweeted, “I actually have a really tiny role in ‘The Nine Deadly Sins,’” she posted on X, almost playfully downplaying it. “Thank you to everyone who found me even though I hadn’t announced it yet, lol.”
That “lol” says everything. Because she knew she’d be found. And found she was.

What fascinates me most is the timing of this sudden cameo. Since officially retiring in March 2023, Mikami hasn’t exactly faded into obscurity; quite the opposite. She’s been everywhere. Building her brand, expanding her reach, and perhaps most interestingly, stepping into an arena…. like literally!
Take her recent appearance during Taiwan’s professional basketball league, for instance. Joining the Formosa Sexy cheerleading team to cheer for them was, in a way, a statement that she was here to change the narrative about adult actresses.
And just when fans thought they’d seen the peak of her post-retirement reinvention, here she is, making a cameo, that too on Netflix! It’s almost strategic.
But I wonder if this was just a one-off thing by Mikami? Or is this the beginning of something more calculated?
Because let’s be honest, you’ll rarely find Yua making dumb moves, unlike some of her counterparts. Every appearance, every pivot, every carefully measured reveal feels like part of a larger narrative she’s quietly constructing. And this 20-second appearance might just be one of her smartest plays yet.
And whether intentional or not, it works.
So yes, Kujou’s Great Sin may be trending for its storytelling, its performances, and its unflinching dive into society’s darker corners. But let’s not pretend everyone’s not talking about the same thing.
Twenty seconds. One cameo. And a reminder that sometimes, the smallest appearances leave the biggest impacts.
