Trust me, as an entity with a lot of demographic data, you’re vastly over-estimating the technical prowess/enthusiasm of most users especially when it comes to our industry's type of content. The type of user who goes on a VPN and then goes to pirate sites/torrents (which 99.9% = pirating, not sharing Linux ISO’s) will almost never become a paying consumer for the content they are accessing. If the content becomes 'too annoying' to easily pirate, most will find something else that’s “good enough”.

FANZA Takes Down Largest JAV Pirate Site! There's a ton of weird quirks that have left the JAV industry as it is. Enough to write a novella length piece on it (if not longer). Conversely, zooming out from JAV, if some of these age verification laws stick (such as England's which is carried out not by legislation but a separate regulation authority) and non-compliance leads to sites being blocked by ISPs, I can imagine a 'bounty' system coming into being where non-complaint sites are reported and blocked. It won't stop all users obviously, but when average folk can't easily find pirated content anymore (can't access site without workarounds, sites not appearing on page 1 of a search), it's pretty much a win for rights holders...assuming those in the region can legally buy the content easily and that takes us back to the weird quirks of JAV that are like a ouroboros with pixels.

A Case for Mosaic in JAV: An In-depth Opinion. Part 3 of 3There is a very good saying that the ‘flaws’ we see in others are simply a reflection of our own. Thus, if one calls those performing in JAV ‘whores’ simply for engaging in acts most natural, what does that make the one who lobbed that polemic at them? Per mosaic, sure without may be better, but it makes studios think more creatively. My advice to those who absolutely hate mosaic remains the same: if you want to see a real vagina, get a girlfriend. JAV—and adult movies in general—should never be seen as replacements for the real thing, real love, real intimacy. Per international uncensored versions for foreign fans, if any want to pay several million USD to have their own private spankbang made, perhaps that can be arranged. Otherwise, the industry is built by and for Japanese in Japan that accounts for 99% of revenue and 100% of legal concerns.

Plastic Love: Hinako MoriThere will never be a JAV director--even the great almighty Samoari--who would film a FFM scene and say "hey, could we get less lezzing out please?" Most likely if we've actresses who have done lesbian work (or FFM with lots of lesbian action) and don't do so in another scene, it's probably related to their earnings and the studio just did not offer enough for them to go that far. While some actresses can get wild, it's still a professional job and may hold back if the offer isn't right.

JAV Fan Survey ResultsThank you very much for the comments. Studios probably do not read the blog. At the end of the day, Japan counts for probably 95%+ of their revenue and the tastes of Japanese users probably are what is most important when deciding what to film. Smart studios of course should see foreign tastes as longer-term ambitions to match given Japan's continued downward population demographics.
