Having the honor to work on a maiden title in a long-running (here about 14 or so though perhaps 20 if we count the newer spin-off series) JAV series is always a blast. Seeing how things change over time, what may have been attempted early on and what obviously did not work. Also seeing what did work really well to the point where you wonder "why didn't they just keep on doing that?" I felt both while subtitling I WAS APPROACHED FOR A CHIROPRACTIC EROTIC OIL MASSAGE because what we have here via HOT ENTERTAINMENT is a massage movie that overall is great, but not perfect.

The first thing that caught my eye after the theme of course was not necessarily the cast, but the location: just how legend says those indie dental movies that consist of nothing more than JAV stars having their teeth cleaned (yes, these exist) are shot after hours in a real dental clinic an especially perverted dentist let a director friend make use of, today's update seems to have been shot in an actual osteopathic clinic. If this was just a set, color me surprised as I know there's a decent variety as to what a studio can rent, but given when this was shot--the tail-end of the Golden Age of JAV, options for 'chiropractic clinic' sets may have been non-existent. Sadly, we only get one more movie in this series shot in such a unique location, but the scenarios dare I say get better.

The belated setup for each of the three 'proper' encounters (the last is simply the director having side benefits with an actress): masseuses are tasked with finding salarymen types heading home presumably from more work than a healthy human should handle in one day. They are pushing a new massage clinic. So new, in fact, that today happens to be its opening day. And so desperate for clients that they are offering the first ten who walk through their doors totally free 30 minute massages. You don't need to ask me twice: if a cute Japanese woman in adorable masseuse garb came up to me with an offer like that, I'd cancel any and all plans because this may indeed be the elusive 'free lunch' that normally should not exist!

There's a weakness: this is a JAV movie. Thus, it gets sexy. Massages may start normal but almost in lightning speed they volte-face to sexy times and strangely, there is almost no reactions from the clients. Some feign surprise, but it's admittedly pretty weakly feigned; they're in on it. The woman of course are in on it. The realism factor that should be here (and does exist in the set itself!) seems almost too muted. I'm not sure who to blame; I was not there during the shoot and only report more as a fan of #ClassicJAV than an AD wallflower. This doesn't make this a bad movie, but definitely one that could have been especially good but felt just a bit too muted right when things should have elevated closer to fever pitch. I still think it's well above average and serves as a great entry into a series we will show more from.
