JAV Battle: Slow and Sensual or Fast and Intense?

Introduction
There are countless genres, fetishes, and ideas in the JAV world - many of them contribute to what makes the varied world of Japanese porn great, but there are a lot of elements that many don't think about or know how they help to make a JAV particularly sexy. One aspect that I think is quite important is the pace of a sex scene. The tempo of a sex scene caters to different tastes and can also shift the tone of a scene, on top of offering a completely different experience. So this begs the question: which is better? A slow and sensual sex scene, or a fast and intense one? Both are widely available across the industry's countless movies, and both are also completely different and unique. The answer isn't simple, but I'm going to try and break it down and then come up with a personal conclusion!
Slow and Sensual's Sexiness
Actresses: Ame Anzai, Rin Asahi, Kokona Asakura, Nanami Yokomiya, Yuria Yoshine:
Slower scenes would likely be deemed as more "sensual" by watchers, as they tend to emphasize foreplay and connection between the actors. It allows a watcher more time to witness an emotional connection between actors before the penetration, and it helps put more focus on intimacy. In a way, it sort of tells a story as two people get to know each other before discovering their bodies slowly and carefully. Each movement and action is more meaningful, and there is quite a bit of tension. There's less of a focus on getting to the finishing line, and more about enjoying the journey.
Scenes that are of a slower pace thrive on anticipation - the longer you delay things, the greater the pleasure. In a way, it's similar to a male's orgasm, as delaying it can make the eventual orgasm way more explosive and satisfying. The slowness itself in the scene acts as a tease, whether it be a soft sigh, or slow shuffling back and forth, or slow rubbing of a shoulder or even a nipple through clothing. The camera lingers on lips or fingers, a soft moan quietly leaks forth from the actress: those who admire intimacy would revel in such moments, as they create a sexual aura that feels more immersive, to the point that it almost feels voyeuristic.
In my opinion, a positive aspect of slower-paced scenes is that it can reflect reality. Sex in real life might be slower, filled with hesitancy and exploration, and may be more of an emotional experience. It's these types of scenes that can help a person realize that sex scenes might not be all about the penetration, and that there's more of a mental or emotional aspect. The camera doesn't focus solely on genitals and the nudity (since there is no nudity yet), but can also be used to emphasize the actresses' face or her expressions.
Actresses: Jiyuu Kanade, Shizuka Sugisaki:
Slow scenes usually help to give the watcher a more relatable experience too. Compare this to the more bizarre JAV out there: a lot of JAV make use of absurdity or odd fetishes to cater to fantasies or specific tastes. While a slow scene could still make use of these elements, a lot of the time they don't (at least, from what I've seen). These scenes offer a more realistic experience amongst the slew of ridiculous, fantasy scenarios that are abundant in the medium (I'm not saying they're bad, of course). Sometimes watchers just want to imagine what it'd be like to be with a woman in a "normal" way, and slower scenes give them that chance. Watching a JAV where a man walks in on a woman changing and she seduces him into sex can get old when witnessing it for the thousandth time.
Of course, there are times where slow scenes are just way TOO slow. If it's been 30 minutes and there's only been intimate kissing and barely any touching, then I think we have a problem. While there are some fetishists who could probably enjoy a scene even if there was no penetration at all, I think there needs to be more balance: a slow build-up can be nice, but too slow and watchers are just going to get bored. We watch JAV with the expectancy of seeing sex or more hardcore acts, so something too slow just makes people want to go watch something else.
The Thrill of Fast-Paced Scenes
Actresses: Ayame Ichinose, Miki Matsuzaka, Kana Sekikawa, Touko Yoshinaga:
On the flip-side, there are faster scenes as well. Not everyone has the time or patience to wait around for a scene to play out and find out "what happens". Sometimes a watcher just wants to witness the "best part" as soon as possible. A fast and intense scene is unapologetically physical and high-impact, and it's fueled entirely by pure lust. A fast-paced scene is not necessarily realistic, though, men can often be so fueled by lust that sex can last for only a short while - so in that way, a fast scene could be realistic. But, I would argue a fast-paced scene is more of a fetish, if anything.
There's no slow-build up, no time for the actors to get comfortable with one another or establish some sort of romantic bond or emotional connection; a fast-paced scene usually gets right into the hardcore action right away, and when it does, the actual action is usually fast as well. The thrusts are deep, fast, and almost mechanical, and the energy is raw and almost bestial. Romance and tenderness is the last thing on the mind of such a scene, instead it's all about natural instincts and sensation. It's all very primal, and that can be quite arousing, especially if the watcher themself hasn't been stimulated in a while.
The attractive part of fast scenes is the intensity - every second is just a million thrusts, and moans are louder, things are more chaotic, bodies are pushed to the limit, and orgasms come quicker. It's like surrendering to the pleasure without needing to explain anything. The actors don't whisper lewd things gently into each others' ears or slowly and passionately hug or kiss, it's just rapid thrusting and grabbing, sucking, and the like.
Actresses: Mana Sakura:
Naturally, I'd say fast-paced scenes cater more to fantasy as opposed to realism. Fast-paced scenes tend to be exaggerated and are more in-your-face and blatant, as opposed to making use of subtlety and romance. Everything is focused on the raw, physical aspect of sex, and the scene tries to enhance it to a greater level. It’s an adrenaline rush masquerading as a sex scene, and for many, that’s incredibly erotic. It's like meeting a really attractive woman, and instead of trying to build a lasting, meaningful, romantic relationship with her, you just have a one-night stand with her as you completely lose yourself in her extreme beauty.
While it's obvious, it still needs to be said: fast scenes are also beneficial in the fact that the scenes don't take up as much time. Sometimes watchers don't want to wait around, and just want to jump straight into the action for a quick boost of sexual adrenaline, and don't want to deal with slow build-up, romance, emotions, or some boring backstory - fast-paced scenes help with this immensely. They want to see an actress pounded hard, moaning loudly, and trembling from over-stimulation - it's instant gratification in its purest form.
Both Fast and Slow
Actresses: Mai Onodera:
All that being said about slow scenes and fast scenes, I think many will agree that the best scenes make use of both elements. A slow romantic build-up that helps the actors get emotional, and then concluding with fast-paced sex that pushes into an explosive orgasm - that's like the perfect JAV scene for me. The contrast between the slow and fast moments makes the faster-paced scenes feel like a reward. The watcher is treated to emotional tension and romance and it concludes in a strong physical release. Compare it to music, and it's like a pornographic crescendo.
Some JAV might utilize this on a grander scale, having the beginning of a JAV be more slow-paced or uneventful to lull the viewer into a sense of calm, only for it to explode into a fast-paced act come the latter half of the movie. Personally I find such JAV a bit boring, but it can be effective if done correctly. Actors can similarly alternate between going fast and slow to better control a scene. A skilled performer knows when to slow things down to draw out a moan, when to grip her partner tighter during a burst of speed, and when to close her eyes and lose herself in the moment. Alternating between speeds helps give movies greater depth and makes them less predictable.
Conclusion
While I guess I might have implied that having an equal amount of both fast and slow moments in a JAV is the best option, if I had to choose between the two, I think I ultimately prefer a faster scene. At the end of the day, I personally don't want JAV to be entertaining on multiple fronts, I only watch it for sexual gratification. I'd prefer to just get in and out whilst witnessing the hardcore stuff right away. It's not that I don't appreciate a slow build-up of tension laced with romance and emotion, it's just that those things are more suited to reality, no? I'd rather go out and experience that myself, as opposed to watching other people experience it (in a fake scenario). What do you guys prefer? Fast or slow scenes?
