BREAKING: Yua Mikami CALLED OUT By Frustrated Fan For Defending A Friend

It’s kinda hard for Yua Mikami not to be trending all the time, & even if she doesn’t, eagle-eyed fans find a way. And when I logged into X, it felt like everyone was talking about the same thing.

Considering she's already retired from the JAV industry and has been focusing entirely on her own interests, like a fashion venture, and how could we forget her cheerleading activities in Taiwan, I wasn't expecting her to trend again, but here we are!

Without delaying, let us jump into the crux of the matter.

It all appears to have started with an online user we know as 24-year-old "Tekka-chan." She visited a hairstylist Yua Mikami had previously recommended (and apparently Yua's close friend); inspired by her look, she hoped to recreate it. Unfortunately, she wasn't happy with the result.

And, like most people do these days, she vented about the experience on X, which led to a snowball effect.

The 24-year-old wrote on X, "I went to the stylist who usually takes care of Yua Mikami to get my hair cut, and it was a total disaster. I’d cleared my schedule days in advance and was really looking forward to it, but now I’m deeply traumatized. I wanted layers, but the ends are all jagged and uneven. I can’t even show my face anymore. You shouldn’t just switch hair salons on a whim"

The post reportedly amassed more than 40 million views, turning what should have been a simple customer complaint into a viral controversy because it featured Yua.

Not long afterward, Yua uploaded a YouTube video showing herself spending the day at Disneyland with that very same hairstylist friend. And out of all the things she chose, the most obvious theme for the video. Essentially, it was framed as cheering up a friend after her first experience with online backlash. And after that point, I didn't think there was much left to criticize.

Standing by a friend isn't unusual in any way, but then... the situation took an unexpected turn. Since the hairstylist appeared openly in the video, viewers quickly connected the dots.

Around the same time, Tekka-chan revealed that Yua herself had privately messaged her regarding the situation. And if we’re to believe her, Yua questioned how Tekka-chan could have received a student discount if she was already working. At first glance, it almost sounded like Yua was simply defending her friend.

Then, fans who had been observing this for a while were left with a question.

How did Yua know anything about the customer's payment details? And suddenly, the conversation shifted away from the haircut altogether. Online users began wondering & debating whether client information had been shared without permission.

Tekka-chan later explained that during her first visit, she genuinely was a university student, which is why she qualified for the student rate. By the time of her second appointment, the one where she visited specifically because she admired Yua's hairstyle, she had already started working and had paid the normal price. She even shared proof of payment.

Visibly frustrated, she wrote.. "I was so surprised to get a direct message from Yua Mikami herself!! Out of the blue, she pointed out in a stern tone, “You’re a working adult, but you used the student discount, didn’t you?”

She went on, "I was completely flustered. Of course, I paid the full price this time. I was surprised that she knew this was my second visit and that I’d been a college student during my last visit, when I’d used the student discount... I’d always thought that my visit history and service details were personal information kept by the salon, so I couldn’t help but wonder how a third party like Yua-chan had found out about it"

And from there, opinion turned against Yua and her friend. Honestly, I think that's where the real controversy began.

Because while I don't see anything inherently wrong with Yua spending time with a friend or filming a Disneyland vlog, privately messaging someone about information that appears connected to a salon visit creates an entirely different discussion.

Whether the client details were leaked intentionally, misunderstood, or explained out of context, it immediately raised questions about customer privacy. And once it got exposed, the backlash became difficult to stop. Yua eventually disabled comments on the YouTube video, although the video itself remains online to date.

There’s a lesson in there for renowned figures. That probably tells you everything about how quickly the atmosphere changed. What surprised me most is that Yua has been navigating social media for years. She's experienced controversies before. This makes the situation feel unusually avoidable.

Fortunately, the client who accused Yua’s friend doesn't seem interested in escalating the situation further, but it was too late. By that time, the criticism directed toward Yua had already spread widely across Japanese social media. Now the biggest question is whether this ends up affecting her long-term image in Japan.

Personally, I think it's still too early to say. As for her activities in Taiwan… I don't think this incident will have much impact there.

But in Japan, where conversations around privacy and personal information tend to be taken very seriously, this is likely a story that fans will remember for a brief period.
