What first got you into JAV?
I've always enjoyed huge boobs and I randomly stumbled upon Anna Ohura years ago. We're talking before even the modern era of JAV. However I sort of just bounced around randomly if I stumbled on a film here and there. It was really my love for Hitomi that got me into it. Like many I was watching things here and there until I thought to myself that there had to be more. I went down the rabbit hole so to speak, found out there were many others like her (well not quite like her but you know, many other wonderful Japanese women) and the rest is history.
What keeps you excited about JAV after all this time?
I enjoy how dependable the industry is. I can always expect monthly releases, great new debuts each year, and the steady stream of everything I've enjoyed for years and years. Especially as my favourites get older, so too does my preference for older women, allowing me to enjoy both new and familiar faces
Which JAV niches do you always come back to?
Big tits, always big tits, it's my kryptonite. Whenever I'm not sure what to watch or just not feeling it, the simple go to is always just someone with obnoxiously huge boobs. Z cup here I come!
What are your favorite types of JAV stories or setups?
I prefer ones that seem simple and realistic, like a lady next door or your coworker. There's also always a soft spot for teacher because we all had that one hot teacher. And my number one is cheating with your girlfriend's sister, particularly when they get caught.
What kind of videos do you usually avoid?
Pegging. I came to watch him penetrate her, not the other way around. Thing is, there are so many pegging videos that otherwise look great what with the dominant actress but the pegging just doesn't do it for me and I skip a lot of videos I'm sure are otherwise great.
Which studios do you respect the most right now?
S1 and Madonna. S1 has quickly become the new Oppai with the amount of omega busty actresses they've added to their roster. Madonna has managed to grab so many actresses, including many of my favourites back out of retirement.
Which performers do you think have the strongest on-screen presence?
For me it's actresses who have strong performing skills while also having particularly strong styles or unique quirks. Kurea Hasumi and Nao Jinguji are great examples.
Do you tend to follow specific actresses, studios, or themes first?
Definitely actresses. I have a long enough list of favourites that finding my favourites in themes I like is easy.
What is your process for deciding whether a JAV release is worth watching?
I start by filtering to actresses I like first and then try to find a theme that I like. As I like such a large number of actresses (I look at releases from close to 100 actresses each month), it's usually easy to find what upcoming releases are interesting. I then use trailers to narrow down to the 5-10 I'm genuinely interested in.
What makes a JAV review genuinely useful in your opinion?
I want to know why the video is good, which means actually analyzing the video. What decisions did they make that you disliked and why were they wrong? Actually point it out, tell me what you would do different, and let me decide if the review came to sound decisions.
What is one thing you wish more JAV fans understood about the genre?
Censorship isn't strictly a bad thing. Everyone seems to talk about how you can't see anything and it's terrible, but I argue that there are benefits that come out of it. Some plots don't work when you know it's obviously fake, and sure you know it's fake either way, but the censorship helps mask some of it. Or maybe someone doesn't look good down there and you can ignore that. But more than either of those, I think the industry had to adapt and be creative because they couldn't just focus on some close up shot and call it a day. Say what you want, but complex plots and wacky Rocket videos are a big part of the industry that I think we wouldn't have without censorship.
What is one niche you have grown to appreciate more over time?
Passionate kissing. When I first started watching I was only watching super busty actresses, the kind that tend not to kiss very much because the focus is on their boobs and so you need to be away from them. Over time I started enjoying kissing far more as I branched out.
