Thank you for the response. Sumire was always a more introverted performer in the past, and I think that can really have an impact on an actress's career trajectory unless they know how to harness that quality, or overcome it. Sumire appears to have taken more of a latter approach. Although she appears far from a boisterous extrovert now, she does appear to be more comfortable expressing herself in roles. Maybe that has something to do with her newfound popularity. I don't want to assume too much though, when it comes to Japanese tastes, because their criteria for what they find appealing is so specific to the norms and societal conventions of their own country and are very different to notions in the English speaking world. It could also be something as simple as her face being more appealing to more people. In the past, let's just say Sumire was an "unconventional" beauty; very cute and pretty for sure, but not what you'd confidently describe as an instantly notable looker. Whatever the case might be, I'm very glad people are enjoying her so much right now. She deserves to be popular after years of being kind of a second tier actress. I might even check out what she's been up to of late, although I'm usually very put off by cosmetic surgery - especially breast augmentations. By the way, since so many of our tastes and favorite actresses overlap, I was hoping that you might do a feature on Ai Mukai at some point - something along the lines of a career retrospective, since she's going through something of a renaissance right now. She's had so many great titles since she went exclusive with Madonna.

It’s so weird to me that Sumire Kurokawa is only now getting her dues now and the popularity to match - when she’s been an amazing performers for more than a decade. She had a different name before, and even did a few uncensored vids in the past, but for some reason she’s only popping now it seems, with multiple titles released each month from major studios. I can’t figure out why, though; I loved her in the past when she was slightly thicker, had an even bigger, athletically shaped ass and an even goofier and endearing face, but for some reason she’s reached peak popularity in the last year or more - right around the time I have cooled on her. It’s obvious to me that she had some work done - most obviously her breasts, but I think she did some stuff to het face as well - and she’s thinner than I’ve ever seen her, bordering on appearing emaciated, which has taken a toll on jet legendary ass, but despite this, she’s rocking right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love that she’s getting so much attention and so much work and that people genuinely have around on her when she had always been a second stringer in the past, let’s say; I just can’t figure out what it is that has made her popularity skyrocket at this particular point, when the qualities that make her special was so much more pronounced in the past. Remu has to be the most beautiful girl in the history of JAV. I just can’t think of anyone else who’s as pretty as she is. What makes her even more appealing is that she comes across as genuinely down to earth and approachable, despite being as beautiful as anyone on the planet right now. An added bonus is she’s one of the very, very few JAV stars I can comfortably say genuinely cums in her videos. I am close to 100% certain that her orgasms are real. Remu Suzumori is probably the most effortlessly pretty JAV actress in history. I'll wait for a rebuttal .I totally agree with Rei Kamiki's inclusion; she's something else - a real knockout, but with a sweet, down to earth quality like Suzumori, although she comes across as a bit shyer. Momo Sakura is a fine inclusion also, but her face has been altered by cosmetic surgery a bit too much in the last few years. At least she still looks like herself, which can't be said for too many JAV stars who's been under the knife or subjected themselves to the injection needle, but absolutely she looked better in the past. Yua Mikami has the same issue: she's still beautiful and a very fine inclusion, but she used to look more naturally pretty a year or two ago. (I'd still include her in my list though, even now). Any list worth its salt should always include Rio (Tina Yuzuki) as well. Maki Hojo is just one of the most beautiful humans I've ever seen and somehow grows pettier as she matures, without seemingly having felt the need to resort to any kind of cosmetic work (the best kind of beauty is almost always the natural kind). Rina Rukawa for me is one of those JAV stars who personifies ero-kawaii (erotic-cute). She's somehow beautiful, pretty and cute at the same time - qualities you rarely see in the same person - and she had a very noteworthy JAV career in the mid-2010s, even enjoying a stint with the Ebisu Muscats, but sadly she appears to have fallen off people's radars, which is really sad and not what she deserves at all. She deserves so much more appreciation, and if it takes someone like myself to bring her back into prominence, I'm willing to do it (hit me up Zenra LOL). I know someone like Kurea Hasumi is thought of only as a sex monster and not really a typical Japanese beauty, but to me she has a very disarming, almost wounded prettiness that I find irresistible. She's so much more than just a legendary fuck machine. Another actress who is underrated in the prettiness department is Aino Kishi. In her case her expressive warmth adds prettiness points to an already impossibly cute face, so for me she has always rated very highly. She's got the kind of face you can't take your eyes off of, even when there's a ton of things happening on screen.

I've read you for years and years Oppaira and your list is consistent with what I've come to expect of you, but Julia at number 2 is a genuine, and welcome surprise. I think after all this time Julia is still somehow underrated. I think people just always expect her to be there, but once she's retired, people will finally realize how much she has contributed to the industry - kind of like Tsubomi. Julia's longevity is no fluke; she's genuinely good. I've seen people bemoan her inexpressiveness, but they make the classic error of mistaking reservedness, or introvertedness, for inexpressiveness. What's more is watching Julia break through her own reserved shell is one of the greatest thrills in all of JAV; it's almost as if you're seeing something authentic (almost - I'm not that naive LOL). Julia can do dramas as well as anyone, and better than most, because Julia to this day is one of the few actresses who can genuinely convey earthy womanly sexiness. So many actresses - even some of the best - inevitably become caricatures of what a porn actress is supposed to be, or even of their own personas, including Julia herself sometimes; but when Julia is in the zone, which is to say happy with the project she's doing, she exudes playful sexiness in a truly unique way.
