I like this topic. Since the 2010s I feel that JAV is now closely linked to mainstream Japanese media as ever before. The most popular JAV stars transitioned to more mainstream roles with varying levels of success. A number of people do not even use JAV actresses anymore and instead use 'JAV idols'. It makes sense, JAV stars and "idols" has an overlap when it comes to drawing from a pool of talent; cute/seductive/cool/pretty women. A lot of JAV actresses could have easily became idols/JPop stars in a different life. The similarities also extends to industry activities. JAV actresses regularly have meet and greets, CD release events, photobooks etc. things that you expect to see from idols/Jpop.

I get the "protect idol image" of S1 for their top tier talent. However for S1's "middle and below" talent, I think there is room for some for more "faux creampie".

Skills matter a lot. There have been a lot of actresses who are really pretty but are just starfish emotionless. What set Minami Aizawa apart was having the looks while having the skills to sell the scene. Her facial expression while being pounded are still some of my favorites ever.

I always look forward to the harem scene in the studio specials but the last S1 harem scene was a disappointment because it only had BJ. Idea Pocket's "Many guys, 1 girl" are instant hits in my book.

I am Team Love Hotel here. To me, it just fuels the fantasy of hiring a JAV actress from one of those deliv*ry health shops (of course the film is much better since it will be full "service").
