Oppaira's 2023 JAV Debut Review Roundup - 2 Years Later

Hey guys, Oppaira here. It's been a couple of years since we looked at 2023 debuts, and as is tradition it's time to go see where they landed. How many of them are still worth watching? Who was I wrong about? Time to find it all out. Let's get into it, shall we?

I always like to start these by getting an overview of where all the debuts are at. Looking at our chart we see most of our debuts are still active, a ratio of about 2:1 remaining active. What is perhaps most notable is that I’m down to around only 25% of actresses being ones I am still interested in. It really goes to show just how many I watch that aren’t actually worthwhile. I mean sure, sometimes you find gems in the ones you don’t really expect to, but it’s interesting nonetheless that most of them really aren’t worthwhile watching. I don’t really mind that since I watch way too many actresses as it is, and getting a bit of a breather to watch my favourites is good.

Erisa Kusunoki is the retirement that seems to have hit the hardest. She had a lot of potential and her last video was actually quite good. When I was checking back up on them I realized just how long it had been since she released something. I mean sure yeah, I knew it had been a while, but it’s been over half a year now. She was active on Twitter most of that time too which is the strange part. I understand small gaps as you swap studios or agencies or something but not like this which makes me think she’s gone for good. Too bad, she was a shining light in Faleno for me. To be honest though, Erisa was never that big of a name for me, and her being the biggest retirement really doesn’t bother me that much.

Yuki Nitta made me a bit disappointed she retired though I can’t say it’s unexpected. Boinbb or Pussy Bank are not the kind of studios you want to be working with if that’s all you work with. Considering she debuted at E-Body I can’t say this is that surprising either, that’s the lack of faith I have in E-Body. On the flip side though, her L cup boobs, as big and wonderful as they are, don’t quite stand out the way they would have in years past. We seem to get one or two L cups a year now and one or two K cups a year too, so I don’t actually think boobs this big stand out so much that I blindly watch them on boob size alone. I mean yeah, I did blindly watch her because of it, but years ago I’d have really gotten into her because of it. These days I have way more selection so her being mediocre in other ways (like her body or face) allow me to not be so bothered by her retirement.

Nami Okimiya is definitely overperforming. I think the amount of videos I’ve seen relative to how much I like her is way way too high. The easiest way to know that is that I haven’t seen a solo video of hers in a year and a half. She just gets lucky being in the mega Madonna films or paired up with actresses I like way better, most recently Meguri. I’d definitely put her in that category of “if the right video comes along” and it just so happens that the right video comes along surprisingly often. That’s not even factoring in that there are still other videos I haven’t seen that might make the cut one day, or me having faith there will be others.

Miyu Kiyohara (or now Kinohata) is someone I think I overrated the first time. There were good signs and bad signs and I kind of just prayed a little bit too much that the good signs would work out. She has been a very dull performer and her big boobs don’t stand out enough at the weaker content she does at S1. That’s kind of the reality she lives in when sandwiched between the huge boobs of the other debuts of her year in Haru and Momoka, not to mention everyone since. I just get disappointed every time I watch her and I haven’t watched a non-3D video of hers in about a year.

Ren Gojo is someone I see with more potential these days. She seems to have a strong personality for porn, even dating back to when she first debuted. She wasn’t shy about saying she made up her mind and was fully into it. Moving to Moodyz feels like the right decision so she can get creampied and spice things up a little more. Here’s hoping that it pans out and gives me more of a reason to watch her.

Noa Haruna seems to be doing better these days compared to her debut. I think the industry has made their peace with her face, though perhaps maybe she had some slight work just to round off the edges. Regardless, people are instead focusing on her incredible boobs. They definitely look nicer than 98H sounds, which is the size Ai Sayama was. I’m sorry but Noa’s not only look much bigger but much nicer too, and I say that as someone who is a huge Ai Sayama fan. Maybe I still don’t have as much faith as someone like Pan does, but she’s not that bad and I could see myself watching a fair bit more of her. She’s getting solid opportunities, maybe not quite top tier freelancer, but better than I would have guessed a year ago.

Saki Aikawa is now at Madonna which is where I always wanted her to go. Granted it’s the Monroe label but I don’t care, they have good names there too like Maki Tomoda and Momoko Isshiki. Something tells me she might randomly find herself out of them again, it feels like it’s very hard to stay on as an exclusive for them for any length of time. Yuka Mizuno has been doing it too and Yuka Ooshima recently transferred there, outside of them I can’t think of anyone who has in the 4+ years that Monroe has been around. I’m expecting more like a Rena Fukiishi where she goes for a bit and then dips. Still, I’m happy to see anything better from Saki and I’ll have to get in some watches while the eating is good.

Sayaka Nanjo completely went down the drain when she got dumped by Fitch. Granted it seemed like a strange place for her to be but she’s gotten so much random nonsense since then. So much potential, so much wasted, and she’s just not for me anymore.

Yuri Manase is someone I expected better things from. When I watched her for the first time I felt like there was potential, though maybe I should have heeded the early warning signs a little more. I was focused on liking the product that I looked past her being on her way out of the top studios and into the bottom of the industry. Her last solo release was in June and before that in March, which I think is all you really need to know. I wish I could say I feel like there’s more there but honestly her career isn’t worth following at all.

Haru Minato (now Haru Minami) continues to be one of my favourite debuts from the year. It’s hard to go wrong with her massive 108K boobs, it really is. You can complain about whatever you want from her, whether the inconsistent filming schedule (she’s busy with other things evidently), the hair extensions she’s used, the yellow teeth, the dumb filters she uses on Twitter, any of it you want. At the end of the day I just look at those giant boobs and go “GIVE ME MORE”. I find that as long as she’s filming she seems to have enough decent stuff to watch. I’m almost inclined to watch some of her stuff just because of how big they are and not really care that the plot is mediocre. I mean, there are still some things but damn big beautiful boobs are exactly what I signed up for. I still think she’s reasonably pretty through the makeup and can be a reasonable performer, which all just adds to the experience (because boobs that nice are basically enough on their own).

Rei Kimura has also remained one of my favourite debuts. I feel like there’s a bit of a love hate with Rei since she is really not that strong of a performer and it shows. I know I also think she’s far prettier than most do, call it my strong milf bias. That sort of plain milf look that Ririko Kinoshita has really benefits Rei, though I think Rei is a decent amount prettier. I keep wanting to watch more than I do because so much of it is bland, but she’s keeping up with all of my favourites somehow. Maybe I’m just super biased, maybe the others aren’t quite living up to their true potential, but Rei is nice and I enjoy her still.

Momoka Kagura is the last of my favourites. Unsurprisingly the same 108K boob size that made me fall in love with Haru was the same for Momoka. Where Haru I think is prettier, Momoka has a nicer ass, but either way it’s obviously the boobs that steal the show for me. Momoka’s in an interesting spot though because it’s not really clear if she’s retired or not. She hasn’t released anything in a few months but she’s still active on Twitter telling people not to be so worried. It sounds like maybe agency troubles but who knows, she isn’t spilling the beans. I guess maybe agency issues would be quite rare given she’s with Light, who boasts major names like Nozomi Ishihara, Mina Kitano, Jun Suehiro, Mary Tachibana, and even Ichika Matsumoto. Either way she still turned out to be one of my favourites, and for now I’ll keep her in this bucket until I hear more. I really hope she does stay, would be a shame to lose her.

I always kind of look back at this but it seems to be true each year that 2-4 actresses stick out as my top tier. That also seems to be true whether I watch 7, 21, or 38 like I’ve been doing these past couple of years. I think watching more doesn’t really have any bearing over the top tier because either way I’m filtering to watch the ones I’m most likely to enjoy first. When I watch more I might find some lesser actresses that I may enjoy and watch every now and then, but rarely the standouts.

In fact, I almost think it’s better not to watch this many. What I’ve found is I’m more likely to get into an actress when they have plenty of great content to watch. Like I watch them, find out they’re nice, and then there’s a dozen good videos to watch, not a scrap or two I struggle to enjoy. The most recent debut I enjoyed that I didn’t watch as a debut was Non Ohana, and she debuted back in 2021, so I’ve been really good about not missing anyone.
