JAV Battle: Talking During Sex or Staying Quiet? Part 2

Quiet sex scenes feel more natural and believable - this is just my opinion, but sex usually doesn't warrant any dedicated speeches or talking, it's more about the physical contact. Action is what drives sex, so by having no actual talking, actions become the only focus of the sex scene. Instead of talking, you can hear the actress breathing heavily from all the movement and pleasure, which is a nice aesthetic and can be quite seductive. The woman can also rely on other types of actions, be it her facial expressions and body language to convey her emotions. Cute little whimpers or a little laugh when the guy picks her up and puts her in a new position - that can be more exciting than the woman just talking.

This also makes the moment feel more realistic, something that JAV often tend to focus on in order to establish relatability with the watcher. Some watchers just want that authentic experience, and a more quiet sex scene better emulates that as it puts more of a focus on the two people interacting with each other.

With there being no constant speech or talking, a quieter sex scene means the watcher can focus more on what's actually happening. They care more about visuals and the actions taking place, and it allows them to get more engrossed in the sexual activity. This also allows the watcher to take note of smaller details, or things they otherwise wouldn't notice.

In the same vein of thought, if there's almost no talking or noise in the scene, then the few moments where the actress does speak holds more weight and impact. It can allow for a greater degree of sexual energy: imagine a sex scene where the actress doesn't say anything, and near the end, the pace of the thrusting picks up, and she starts talking dirty right before the climax - that can help make the sequence a ton more erotic.

While hard to explain, I feel like quietness and silence in general lends better to intimacy. There's something sexy about a quiet night where it's just two people spending personal time together, and she speaks slightly in a hushed voice. Perhaps the lack of dialogue makes the scene feel less performative and more personal.

Another thing quieter scenes do well is make the interaction between the two performers feel more personal. An abundance of speaking and dirty talk makes it feel like the scene is less scripted. There is energy in the moment, and the whole thing shifts to a different level - instead of relying on dialogue to frame or explain the scene, the performers simply react to each other in the moment. This causes the sequence to give off less of an indirect feel, and makes it seem like the experience is occurring between the actors rather than for the viewer's pleasure.

There's some sexy attributes to less talking, but it's rather easy for such a sex scene to become boring fast. I know a lot of JAV with talking don't often take advantage of it, but such movies have so many potential ideas to use. The news anchor type JAV I mentioned before is just one example - another idea could be maybe the actress giving "exercise" instructions (masturbation) and the viewer is encouraged to follow along. Talking sex scenes have a lot more room to be creative, while a silent JAV scene has to rely solely on actions. Also, if the performance isn’t strong enough to carry the moment, the lack of dialogue won't help. So the actress' performance skills will be very important as well, because if she doesn't carry out her actions to a high enough level, then the scene will be less than impressive. There's just a ton of potential with making use of a woman's sexy voice in a JAV, and it's sad that most movies never really try to do anything creative with this - save for maybe ASMR (that's a whole other thing entirely).

Another downside is that quiet scenes can feel less interactive. A lack of dialogue means there's no potential for back and forth between the actress and the male actor. The performers aren’t really communicating with each other in a way the viewer can necessarily follow - they’re just reacting, and that can make the scene feel more one-sided. Talking, even when it’s simple, creates the illusion of interaction; it feels like something is happening between two people, not just being expressed individually.
