Biography
Minami Aizawa was born in Hong Kong. Her folk’s business took them to the United States where she would grow up in Orange County, Los Angeles. Spending over 7 years there for the early years of her life. Time which gave her conversational fluency and understanding in English. A returnee to Japan (Kikokushijo) she came back to her folk’s homeland later on. Minami was first scouted in 2014 while working as a fashion sales clerk in Tokyo at the well-known Shinjuku ward. At the time she was also studying English at Seisen University, a private Catholic liberal arts women's college in Shinagawa. The scout worked for AV agency Forty-Four Management and later became president. At first, Minami turned him down and again and again. Over a year with the man's persistence and getting to know him more, Minami finally relented and signed on with Forty Four Management to work as an Adult Video actress.
AV Career
Minami would debut with a special title for the AV Open in 2016 with AVOP-201 and the famous AV studio Idea Pocket. The AV Open was an event where studios would fight for attention with each other. Showcasing their biggest and most ambitious titles and highlighting their most promising talent. Despite the special treatment, Minami was not very popular at the start. Her titles were not selling and she didn’t have many followers online. Her agency didn’t even put up fan events for her because of the lack of interest. Putting in some initiative, Minami started putting on her own fan events. At the start about 8 people showed up but slowly and steadily she built up a following.

Three years later Minami had turned things around and was finally looking like a real star. The crowning moment came in 2019 with her winning the Best Actress Award at the Fanza Adult Awards. Beating out the favored Moe Amatsuka from rival studio S1. A result some called a Cinderella win due to her unpopularity and difficulties early on. Her victory was cited as thanks to her English skills, communication, and interaction with overseas fans for growing her popularity. Her American, Hong Kong, and Japanese background proved to be a strength throughout her porn career and after. By now Minami had become an established star with Idea Pocket. One of the faces of the studio alongside Kana Momonogi and Momo Sakura.
Retirement
In early June of 2023, Minami Aizawa made her shocking retirement announcement. While it seemed out of the blue for fans, she explained it was in the works for a while now. Talking to media members soon after she touched down at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan. Minami had arrived there to promote some Taiwanese AV events of which she was one of many stars to come over. She cited a previous desire to hang it up while attributing other factors. Such as the death of her manager whom she had become quite close with a few years back. Or the pandemic prohibiting all fan events in which she could say goodbye to her fans in person. Outside of the reasons she gave, her agency was also currently embroiled in an embezzling scandal. One that saw some actresses leaving the studio while citing unpaid dues. Plus with the general poor state of the JAV industry at the time, it’s a decision many have made. Regardless she walks away from the industry after 7 years in it.
Her post-porn plans have been sporadic. She mentioned a desire to work in entertainment within Taiwan or Hong Kong which she has done with variety shows, most notably a cooking show. Recently she announced that she would be moving away from her AV stage name Minami Aizawa. Expressing a desire to get away from that image and questions of a comeback. It is unknown what name she will use and if she will decline to speak about her AV past in future appearances.

As for Minami Aizawa the AV actress. She is a slim, small, and petite woman with a small figure to match.
