JAV Battle: Swimsuits VS Lingerie

The classic swimsuit is the pinnacle of the combination between sweetness and sexiness. Swimsuits are meant for the purpose of beach frolicking and swimming, and as such, it is common to see them outdoors and in public. They are not usually seen in a sexual way from a casual perspective, but many men find swimsuits sexually compelling regardless due to their nature. Swimsuits typically reveal much of the female form: the midriff, shoulders, arms, legs... yes the swimsuit's design is meant to help with its function (I realize there are more encompassing swimsuits like one-pieces), but the design is also sexy, because, of course, it reveals more of the woman's body. Basically I'm saying, swimsuits weren't necessarily meant to be sexy, but are sexy by happenstance.

Swimsuits can be tight, body-hugging, shiny... they act almost like a second-skin, and they can help add greater sex appeal to a woman's already stunning curves. A swimsuit, based on it's design, can lead the eyes to specific parts of a woman's body. The nature of the swimsuit encourages the wearer to swim, so there's also the aspect of getting to see a swimsuit-clad woman be soaked from head to toe, her body dripping wet from fluids. It's like watching a woman ingest a Popsicle - it's an honestly innocent sight, but acts as a gateway for men to fantasize about more indecent things. A swimsuit could even become semi-transparent as a result of the wetness, that's a whole new level of sexiness entirely.

On the topic of designs, there are endless designs to swimsuits! There are so many gorgeous varieties, each with their own variation of sex appeal. Strapless swimsuits, two-piece, one-piece, hell, even naughtier variants like the micro-bikini, all this variety gives swimsuits a huge bonus, in my opinion. On top of that, no matter the design (well, save for more lewd ones like the micro-bikini), it's acceptable to wear said swimsuit out in public, so in a way, when a woman wears a seductive swimsuit, it's almost like she wants men to ogle her, or appreciate her "boldness".

Because of that, there are a lot of JAV out there with swimsuits that take place in a multitude of different settings and scenarios. Whether it be the beach, a hotel pool, a public pool, a water park, or a bathhouse scenario, a woman can wear a swimsuit innocently, and the movie can teasingly escalate the situation into sexual territory, eventually leading into embarrassment, slow seduction, or public sex.

There's also a specific Japanese fetish towards one swimsuit: the sukumizu. The swimsuit embodies nostalgia and is the perfect example of uniform fetishism. The concept should be familiar to anyone who's experience anime or are knowledgeable about Japanese school culture. The outfit is worn during summer pool classes, put on during locker rooms; there's a cultural weight to it that can't be easily replicated.

While swimsuits might appear innocent, lingerie is the epitome of deliberate seduction. They are designed for one purpose: to be seen, then removed. Lingerie is used to an effective degree in a myriad of adult fantasies. Perhaps a housewife strips out of her clothes in front of her husband's boss, exposing some sultry lingerie beneath. Or, an OL and female superior strips down to seduce her submissive employee. Lingerie exudes very clear sexual intent. A woman wearing one is not caught off-guard, instead, she is in full control, even if she's pretending otherwise.

I'd say lingerie has less diversity and uniqueness (according to my own experiences) when it comes to design versus swimsuits, but that doesn't mean they are plain, boring, or "ordinary" by any means. Many are frilly and lacey, and much like swimsuits, lingerie can emphasize or draw attention to different parts of a woman's body, and sometimes even further than most swimsuits go, which is one benefit. Bras, panties, corsets, fishnets, stockings, garter belts, negligees, there are all sorts of parts to a lingerie that can be utilized by any woman hoping to secure sex from a potential partner. Undressing even becomes a bit of a tease and a sexy process due to all the bells and whistles associated with a standard lingerie ensemble.

Unlike a singular swimsuit, a lingerie can be customized with the aforementioned items in a variety of different ways. Lingerie can be highly fancy and expensive-seeming as well, something that can't really be achieved through a simple swimsuit. When a woman wears really luxurious and splendid-looking lingerie, it almost serves like a status symbol, as if the woman is saying, "I'm a high status woman, and I actively want to seduce you". Not only does that feel flattering from the male's perspective, but you at the same time feel impressed by the woman's desire to express passion towards you. By nature, a lot of lingerie seem to express this level of luxuriousness - so even a low-budget production can push this aura.

Swimsuits in general don't push this aura by default, since they are mostly made with function in mind. Sure there are really naughty swimsuits like the aforementioned micro-bikinis, but those focus mostly on raw sex appeal by having the woman almost completely naked. Lingerie usually doesn't rely on that tactic for its sex appeal. The sexiness of lingerie is more in its mature, adult nature. Classy suggestiveness, as opposed to raw sexiness. Lingerie is very much a taste, for those that want more subtle or refined sexiness.

Lingerie has more intent behind its wearing, unlike swimsuits which are usually just worn for public activities like swimming. When a woman wears lingerie, it is with the intent to seduce and impress, so every lingerie outfit feels like a dedicated effort and an implied suggestion to men. It's like she's saying "I took the time to pick out this specific lingerie for you, and I'm trying to seduce you with it". Sexiness is almost always implied with lingerie - you walk into a room and see a woman with lingerie, it feels like the woman is wearing it deliberately, just for you.

Much like how I mentioned in the section with lingerie, swimsuits are just seen as a common item worn in public. Be it for beach-time fun or for clothing at a pool. That being said, it can be hard to use a swimsuit for seduction, as it doesn't possess that mature, adult appeal that a lingerie does. Yes, a skimpy swimsuit can still be sexy if a woman at home walks into your room wearing one, but it's a very different type of aura.

Swimsuits also seem to lock a scene's scenario: when you see a woman wearing a swimsuit, you expect to see a scene set at the beach, a locker room, or a summer setting. Outside of these sorts of locations, a swimsuit can feel rather mismatched. A woman seducing someone in a business office while wearing a bikini just doesn’t have the same impact, for example. Such scenarios end up breaking the fantasy as opposed to accentuating it.

Teasing seems to be a more difficult feat to pull off with swimsuits. Certain swimsuits might look erotic when they're tight, but the removal of it can feel abrupt and awkward. There's no real layering to a swimsuit, though some swimsuits with side-ties and top pulls can be pretty interesting. Though, most swimsuits aren't really designed to "come off in a sexy manner".

Lingerie is used a lot; it's about as common as underwear, and we see women undress in JAV all the time, so obviously, lingerie is just as frequent. Due to being so common, lingerie can start to feel generic, with scenes we've seen over and over again - a woman in lingerie waiting for you in a love hotel room, or walking into a room as a guy is startled.

Another downside is emotional tone. Lingerie rarely plays into "awkward" or "accidental" scenarios - it's too deliberate. This makes it difficult to make use of lingerie in situations involving spontaneous seduction or comedic tension, or where there are innocent characters, since lingerie pushes that implication that the person wearing it came prepared.

A lot of lingerie, with all its bells and whistles with garter belts and fishnets and such, can sometimes malfunction during a scene (for better or worse). Some parts of lingerie might not come off smoothly, and it could ruin the mood if an actress has to constantly fix a stocking.
