Is the New Bako Bus Going to be Cancelled?! – What's Happening to Moodyz’s Latest Special
To celebrate their 25th anniversary in JAV, Moodyz held another Bako Bus special. The massive Orgy brought together their biggest stars along with stars from other studios and freelancers. A jam-packed title that has big backing from the famous studio and seems to live up to the occasion. But there’s a wrench in their plans by the name of Karin Touno, who could ruin the whole party. Karin is/was a little-known Moodyz exclusive from 2024; she was also part of the huge cast in Bako Bus. In the middle of this month, her videos were completely removed from FANZA. Her social accounts are still around but haven’t been updated since the end of last year, making fans believe she has silently exited porn. But this puts Moodyz in a bad situation because in the same week she delisted her videos, they just announced the newest Bako Bus.
Soon after the video was listed online, the details looked odd. A note was added that the physical DVD was delayed, the runtime was reduced, and no trailer has been released. Figures within the industry have hinted at the sudden difficulty of releasing the video. TomoP, a well-known producer with Moodyz, let loose her own frustrations. So, if Karin is delisting her videos, does that mean the newest Bako Bus will be cancelled?
Delistings happen in JAV regularly, unfortunately, but immediate delisting is not as common. This usually happens with actresses who have retired or been gone for a while. This can happen for any reason, and it’s all speculation as to why Karin disappeared. It can happen when their loved ones find out, and they want to disappear online, it can happen when there’s a disagreement with their management, or it can happen when they’ve been wronged somehow. We can speculate all day, as many fans are.

Whatever the reason Karin left, it seems very unfair that one person can do this to everyone else. The actresses, actors, production staff, and studio are now unable to release their work if the video is cancelled. For the studio, that means a lot of effort and capital is lost, as Bako Bus is no small production. They pour a lot of resources into putting it together and funding it. The videos spawn multiple offshoots and versions and usually end up as one of their best sellers for the year. For the workers, that means they don't get their due, and additionally, for the actresses, being denied the extra exposure thanks to the special.
So, what can Moodyz do now? Instead of cancelling the video, they can scrub Karin from the entire thing by cutting her out or censoring her throughout. Which seems like a massive headache, considering the huge cast, and we don’t even know if she had a big role in it. All of this is reigniting discussion within AV about the new AV laws and the whole Delisting process. Delisting is a good protection for talents and should be kept. However, it can be very unfair for studios when implemented, especially in a case like this. I think that, unless there is just cause, studios should be able to release movies, and actresses can only be delisted after a certain amount of time has passed. If the work is already done, no wrongdoing is found, and the contract was signed under good faith, then the talent should fulfill their side of the deal. This is a complicated issue, but the way things are stacked now doesn’t seem fair to everyone.
Editor's Note: As noted in June Lovejoy’s interview, ever since the New AV Law, contracts in JAV are iron clad. Full, informed consent is a given and delisting cannot be requested for brand new movies. Performers are given ample time to read them over and ask as many questions on them as they see fit. Thus, most likely what is going on is an extracontractual issue. We can conjecture until we’re blue in the faces as to why this is happening, but the studio given their status is legally in the clear, but is facing an “impossible situation”: not selling a movie that due to its cast size cost well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars (USD) or facing bad PR. They seem to be taking a fraught middle ground.
