This is Fried Chikan, and I've been following JAV for years. I was first introduced to it through grainy clips of Sakura Sena and Maria Ozawa back in the day. I really started following the industry in the 2010s, with Kaede Matsushima being one of the first actresses I became a fan of. I've come to appreciate JAV's high production values and its emphasis on story-driven themes. My all-time favorite actresses include Iori Kogawa, Aki Sasaki, Akiho Yoshizawa, and Aika Yamagishi. Beyond watching the latest releases, I enjoy exploring the weird and funny side of JAV while also researching the history of the industry and its behind-the-scenes inner workings.

What first got you into JAV?

It's hard to pin down exactly what got me into JAV, but I would have to give credit to Kaede Matsushima. She didn't look like anyone I've seen in porn before. Even though I couldn't understand the language, her face was so expressive and emotive. To this day, I'm a big fan of good performance and slender bodies. She made me not just a fan of her but of JAV itself. Shoutout to Sakura Sena and Maria Ozawa too.

What makes a JAV review genuinely useful in your opinion?

When I got into writing about JAV, I was never thinking about making any sort of high-level criticism or analysis. It was purely just about sharing my love and appreciation for the genre. Sharing what I like and occasionally don't like about something. JAV reviews should do the same. Inform what something is about, what might attract you to it, or what might detract from it. Simple as that.

What is one thing you wish more JAV fans understood about the genre?

To appreciate that they make movies, not singular scenes. Their videos are meant to be enjoyed as a whole, to be watched in progression. Watching the scenes develop, the plots build up, the scenarios change; it can all add to your enjoyment of a video. Not just something you should fast-forward right to the action. Enjoy the feature length.
