As a lover of tall, slender Women, one notable debut was Saki Aoyama in FSET-341. I found her to be charmingly nervous, but ultimately game in enough in terms of performance. Great list!

In the spirit of offering a diversity of opinion, I did not find this to be a great, or even a good JAV. I have to admit, I have a predilection not to enjoy Lovejoy titles. From first seeing her, I thought she was meh in terms of appearance. In another review, I mentioned I love JAV due to the features of Japanese actresses. Hence, the Western look is a turn off. Also, JAV tends to have slender actresses, at least compared to American porn; another trait I prefer. So maybe my assessment is not unbiased from the start. Nevertheless, in light of the alacrity of the review, I decided to give her a second shot. Nevertheless, I found this title wanting. The interview is fine, if a bit long. The striptease at the end did not work for me (granted, not a fan of her body to begin with). And the sex scenes in the middle were nothing special. Probably a 6-6.5 in my book overall.

Great write up! Alice's career is so bizarre, and also not just a little sad, on so many levels. I decided to dig a bit deeper into her career, as I was so intrigued how an actress who has blown up in popularity as she has, and turns in just scintillating performances so regularly, could have toiled in obscurity for so very long. So a mini blog here of my own by way of supplementing the great information above. So it looks like she came into the industry at 20 in May of 2013. And while she looked fantastic (the same killer smile, sans blonde hair and boob job), her early works were largely ignored. Indeed, I cannot even locate them, hence I am unable to to comment on her performances. But the few people who saw them, seemed to give them decent ratings. Within a year-and-a-half of debuting, she did her first anal at 21 (INDI-019). I was able to view this, and wow, she was smoking and gave what I thought was an awesome performance! But apparently since the Amateur Indies label was so obscure, hardly anyone saw it or took notice of her. Thus began a roughly five year journey through the purgatory of JAV. She appeared in SCORES and SCORES (I will get to numbers later) of low budget, generally crappy JAV titles usually in very supporting roles. The one exception to the, and what may be one of the great "what ifs" in JAV history, is that in 2016 she got the role of the younger sister in PPPD-488, part of Oppaira's Older Sister with Big Tits flagship series opposite AKIA (interestingly, she would later star as the older sister in PPPE-029 years later). Finally, an appearance in a MAJOR JAV movie. This COULD HAVE been the moment where the JAV world discovered this firecracker of a JAV star!!! Instead, it might have had the opposite effect. As the younger sister was made to look plain and pathetic, and rather blasé in the one sex scene she was given. Imagine, what if the director had seen her potential and talent, and let her and AIKA both go at it with the BF, competing for his attention. Rather, the closing scene is AIKA going to town on the BF while Alice sobs with her head down by the bed. Oh the tragedy! Indeed, it took more than a year after PPPD-488, and three years after her awesome anal title to even appear in a JAV movie of even minor significance or acclaim again. In September of 2017 she appeared in HTMS-107 billed as the last and number 4 actress which starred mature++ actress Moe Oosawa. Not exactly a breakthrough role now more than four years after entering the industry. Finally, in December 2018, she would get to appear in another movie by a big label, MOODYZ. That is the good news. The bad news was that in MIRD-183 she was credited as the 10th actress out of ten, and hardly given a chance to shine. Just two months later, she Appeared in the AV Open title AVOP 410, the one that was "the bachelor" like. But out of 37 actresses, she was billed #32 (!) and barely got any screen time. So clearly she was deemed to be a C or D level talent only brought in to fill out movies requiring large number of actresses. Other than that, she was still appears in scads of low quality JAV, usually even there in supporting roles. The first glimmer that her career fortunes might change came several month later, when she was the second billed actress behind Minamo in the reasonably popular and well-received film from Prestige, ABP-865. But apparently that was not enough to boost her stock in the industry, as the next two years went pretty much the way the first six years of her career had gone: crappy roles in pretty crappy movies. IMHO, her career FINALLY took off shortly after the New Year in 2021. Emumusume Lab finally gave her a solo vehicle with MISM-194. Wow! Sporting a relatively new set of fake boobs and a cute, short haircut (not blonde yet), she turned in an enthusiastic performance, highlighted by her willingness to do anal and let her nasty side shine!! Thus, extremely belatedly, launched one of the most spectacular ascents to the heights of JAV stardom! But back to the "what ifs." Up until her appearance in MISM-194, during the previous nearly eight years, she produced roughly 330 movies!! But what if, instead of working for generally crappy studios producing mostly dross, someone at one of the majors checked out her performance in INDI-019 way back in 2014 and realized they had a potential dynamo on their hands. It kills be to think about the lost quality output that could have been generated by a Alice Otsu in her early 20's all the way through 28. I would take those 330 movies in a heartbeat! But at least we have been able to relish the mature Alice these last several years!

Hey, a long-time fan of Oppaira's reviews and insights here. Just some feedback. I am not loving the CB or not CB classification as far as reviews go. I can appreciate that having a de facto 1-100 scale (like rating 6.7, 8.2, or 9.6) might be artificially precise, causing a reviewer to be subject to criticism when someone says, "hey, that movie you gave a 7.6 is actually better than one you gave a 8.2." But it seems like having a completely binary rating scale may be too blunt an instrument. It is hard to get a sense of how truly great (or terrible) a movie is. Granted, I think Oppaira does a very good job with the narratives to give a generalized sense of the good, versus the great, versus the awesome. But sometimes it is convenient to scan by the rating and then drill down into the narrative when one's interest is piqued. Just a thought to consider.

It is a complete outrage that this pair of articles has not had more engagement!!! Wow, I was blown away by the fact that after watching nearly 200 JAV movies, other than Nao, I could not name a single director until I read these two articles. I had always focused on the actresses, but now I can see plainly the massive talent chasm that separates the greats from the mediocre. This was particularly highlighted as I read about Usami. I literally had never noticed him or his name. But MIRD-150 is clearly one of the greatest JAV movies of all time. Yes, there is natural chemistry there between the two actresses. But to capture that as well as it was is a testament to great direction. And his style of lightness, focusing on the sexual prowess of the talent, is something I appreciate. Great job and thanks for opening my eyes to several directors I had simply never noticed!!
