A curve-ball for most JAV studios may be casting a type of actress they are not known for or perhaps a theme that's out of the norm. For ROCKET, a "curve-ball" is them shooting something that's...kind of normal by most any other studio's standards. So yes, no weird game shows, no naked cat fighting (a theme they pushed hard for a few years though we've been on the fence with showing), no perversion for the sake of perversion. Instead, we see them do something that's more in line with a SADISTIC VILLAGE update in the magic mirror studio more so than the OG maker SOD's usages of it (believe it or not, SOD CREATE while being the go-to for unique movies and the originator/owner of the studio seems to shoot movies in it with slightly more believable themes).

This time, the ball curves hard towards a fun combination of reality and messiness, real friends/coworkers and the type of sexy play they normally would not do. This time, they're engaged, and later: docked as 'innocent' lotion sumata play turns into wet and wild sex because once you stop, those pistons don't stop! Thus, the title sells it: MAGIC MIRROR - REAL FRIENDS PLAY THE LOTION SUMATA CHALLENGE.

Like other phenomenons from social media such as the free fall ladder sink dive, planking over perpendicular glazed butt cheeks, and that thing involving spinach, three olives, and certain budget cars from the mid-90's, the LOTION SUMATA GAME is both weird, quirky, and clothing-optional. For those not in the know about 'sumata', it's simply the safe sex version of sex where instead of sticking it 'in', you and your partner just rub hard enough to start a forest fire...UNLESS you use lotion and this is the aspect that turns it from a neighborhood safety hazard to something fun, sexy, and embarrassingly pleasurable.

ROCKET may normally go extra weird with just enough mainstream curve-balls (you know, like sex) to make the movies popular enough for the masses, but seeing them do something that for them is less "ROCKET + mainstream" and more "mainstream with a teaspoon of ROCKET" is actually pretty cool. I don't know how this movie did in Japan, but it was fun for our team to work on, the theme while not super unique (sex challenge + real friends leads to wild creampie sex is a JAV trope as old as salaryman in big suit walking in on cheating wife doing the ekiben with her paramour) works well. The casting is inoffensive, the flow superb, the messiness on point with any 'wet and messy' movie of its kind, and the location nonpareil. Normal, but engaging, entertaining, and arousing.
