The JAV-icious Cycle 2025 Part 2

As I was writing my previous roundup for 2025 Retirees, I realized that the list of actresses was filled with so many iconic actresses, it really needed to be a two parter. Fried Chikan’s 2025 article lamenting the list of retiring actresses grew even bigger, despite the fact that he wrote it a bit after the middle of the year. The shake up that these retirements leave the industry are bigger than the usual.

With the big iconic names in this list, choosing their successors was even harder! So let me be clear that these are solely my opinion on which actresses could conceivably inherit the retiree’s place in the industry. At this point, my primary consideration seems to be more on the intangible vibes (ie. charm, performance, branding), with looks as the second facet, and studio/career being the last.

Retired in 2025: Kana Momonogi

Kana’s retirement really hurt but I suppose it was a bit of a long time coming. Some even speculated a 2024 departure, but I guess she still had a year in her. It seemed like that last year really took its toll on her with the weight loss and the loss of passion in her performances. But still, I’d like to believe that she still gave it her best, and hope that retirement will treat her well. Still, a massive loss since Kana was one Idea Pocket’s old guard that really kept them afloat for a long while.

Kana’s Successor: Mitsuri Nagahama

Kana was such an iconic Idea Pocket exclusive for such a long time, I had to look for her successor within Idea Pocket’s roster. While Idea Pocket hasn’t been doing as well as they were in years past (they were arguably Top 3 before!) They still have a good competitive roster (side note, I think their problem isn’t necessarily the roster but a lack of innovation). . As I looked through their roster, I had to notice how strikingly similar Kana and Mitsuri’s faces are. Same seductive eyes, same cute nose and same scrumptious lips. Mitsuri has a bit more bodacious body but she just needs to level up the inherent sluttiness, and I think she can be at the level of Kana in her prime!

Though Karin’s career is much spicier than the standard S1 Vanilla route Nana took, I think the similarities between the two outweigh differences. Both have similar square-ish cutie faces, with a bedside vibe that’s overflowing with kawaii energy, and a killer set of teeth that sends fans in heat.

And while I’m bad at getting to know JAV gossip, the ones that do reach me means that there’s some really steamy stuff going on. Ai was caught in a sordid affair with a married man. While it’s a very common storyline in JAV, the real deal is still very frowned upon by Japanese society. Some even say that the reason why such vulgar topics appear so commonly in JAV is so society has a way to let it out in fantasy rather than enacting upon it in reality. While Ai Hongo was on the up and up of her career before this scandal, this pretty much ends her JAV dreams…

Ai Hongo’s Successor: Yayoi Hamabe

Yayoi is a fairly new debutante in late Q1 2025 from FALENO, the same studio that Ai Hongo debuted from. While it remains to be said what her career trajectory will be, she seems to be following in the same route, same genre and same branding as Ai Hongo, though Yayoi is a bit tamer as a natural beauty since Ai has had a lot of improvements over the years. Still, the similarities are self-evident. Great face, nice body, juicy boobs. Color me curious.

The main issue is that her sexual performance lacks the depth of experience that Ai Sayama had, but there’s plenty of time to learn. Oof, this one personally stung. I was there when Airi was in her prime during mid 2010’s Idea Pocket. Though most JAV fans go after the newer less experienced debutantes, late bloomers like Aino and matured JAV stars like Airi tend to have a strong base of loyal fans. Aina is one of such that’s to die for!
