JAV Retirements and Replacements 2025 Edition Part 1

The JAV-icious Cycle continues.

I thought we wouldn't be beating 2024 for bad years for retirements, but 2025 edged it out a bit just by the sheer number of iconic actresses ending their careers. An end of an Era is not apt, it’s more like a plural… ends of Eras. Bittersweet news again as it is every year, but some of these announcements are a long time coming already but a few of them are surprises since it felt like they had a few more years in them. The amount of retirees for the year made me really have to consider who makes it on this list and so it’s gonna be a two parter for this time around.

At any rate, here's a look back for the 2025 retirees! (And their plausible replacements to their brand).. Picking their successors of the list was a bit more difficult due to how big the names are in the list, so I had to pick not really up and comers but those who have been around the block enough to comfortably say that the crown they inherit fits.

Retiring in 2026: Mary Tachibana

After 12 years in the biz, Mary Tachibana made a decision to retire. 10 years as a prolific free lancer, 2 years as a dual exclusive to Madonna and Das. With her Russian hafu looks, bodacious mature body and great camera personality (even resulting in a guest role in a Netflix comedy series), Mary made an iconic JAV career for herself in those 12 years. I actually prefer it when actresses retire while they’re still going strong, as opposed to the alternative to simply fade out. At any rate, she's still got that music career as a DJ going for her!

Mary’s Successor: Ayumi Ryou

Ayumi Ryou is a decently popular matured actress who I feel is severely underrated.
