FC’s Favorite JAV Studios Part 1
Today we turn our attention from the beautiful women in front of the camera and look to the porn makers behind all the great smut. The studios themselves, the ones planning, producing, writing, and filming it all. Looking into their quality, unique style, quirks, and signature series. These are my favorite JAV Studios.
Idea Pocket
First up is the AV major player Idea Pocket, and beautifully cute is how I would describe their lineup of girls. Idea Pocket has the best roster of adorable and cute actresses among the big players in my opinion. From girls like Kana Momonogi and Momo Sakura today to Rio and Aino Kishi in the past. Many of Idea Pocket’s signature actresses are all cute as a button. High-quality visuals and production befitting of a top-tier studio with a decent variety of video genres to peruse.
I also enjoyed their earlier days around the late 2000s to mid-2010s, where they had more model-like actresses with slender figures and long bodies, and had even more variety in their content. IP is the studio from which I have the most videos and my favorite amongst them all. One of their most well-known series is “Sticky Kisses and SEX”, a sloppy spit making good time that tests actresses’ make out skills. Their cute and beautiful talent, alongside their cute videos, is exactly what I like about JAV.

Few emphasize Idea Pocket’s greatness than Minami Aizawa. Cute, small, and one heck of a performer on the script and in the sheets. This messy, nasty, make-out heavy title perfectly fits Minami and her playful tongue while showing off what IP is about.

Madonna
Next is the mature-focused Madonna. While IP has been my favorite, Madonna is quickly approaching the top spot. I love their studio’s aim of highlighting older and more mature women. With Madonna, you are getting some finely aged ladies; they have great taste in their choice of actresses, and what an expansive roster they have today. I do have a bit of a love-hate relationship with them. On one hand, they go way too much into the submissive genre and cheating wife videos. So many of the videos can be carbon copies of each other, fatigue sets in quickly.
They also use some actresses poorly and against their strengths, like with Asahi Mizuno and Minori Hatsune. On the other hand, their roster is excellent, and their videos are usually so well made. Madonna knows their drama and produces expertly shot and lit titles. Simple themes and setups, but quality productions behind them.

You take the good with the bad, as a whole, Madonna is a fine studio making some of the best Mature woman content, ranging from all sorts of age groups with a rock-solid production behind it all. Under them are also Ure Komi, a sublabel specializing in some great hentai and doujinshi JAV adaptations, and Monroe, who features truly mature older women in the grey and wrinkling zone. My appreciation for Madonna outweighs my critiques of them.

Known mostly for their prolific works in the NTR genre, Madonna has pushed a newer offshoot form of it with NGR. NGR or Nagasare is the same cheating/infidelity genre as NTR, but with the cheating wife being more into it. She gets taken over by the passion and pleasure of the affair and becomes a more than willing adulteress. Not too dissimilar to NTF, frankly speaking. Still, it’s a small new wrinkle with the studio’s tried and true genre.
Prestige’s Absolute
Next is Prestige or, more accurately, Prestige’s flagship label Absolute. The two are synonymous but Prestige is part of a much larger porn outfit and not just a studio. Our attention is on their absolutely wonderful main label, Absolute. Absolute likes their actress’s petite, small, short-haired, dainty looking, and wild in bed. Frail, fair-skinned beauties like Airi Suzumura, Remu Suzumori, or Umi Yatsugake who are shy, awkward, and reserved at face value. They do have some variety with more curvy girls like the ample-breasted Asuna Kawai or bottom-heavy Suzu Matsuoka. But as a whole, they have definitely targeted girls with a daintier appearance and a certain look.
Looks and body aside, all girls are required to be hellcats in the bedroom. Hard, frenetic, messy sex that leaves everyone dripping with sweat, spit, and cum. Absolute actress should be able to do some deep throating, squirt loads, and fuck hard. Good performers in bed are required, even if they are shy or awkward outside of it. Their trademark series “Natural Juice” is the perfect showcase of what kind of smut Absolute wants to make.

SENZ (Soft on Demand)
If I could I would include all of SOD but that would be a cheat as they are not just a major studio but a massive JAV conglomerate with tons of companies working underneath their umbrella. Even their flagship studio, SOD Create as their main label and host of tons of smaller studios and labels such as their exclusive actress label the aptly named SOD Stars. For my favorite label under SOD, I’m going with the one that best exemplifies SOD's unique flair. I'm going with SENZ.

The competitor of Rocket for the weirdest, strangest, and funniest porn in JAV. SENZ makes odd videos from Free Use hospitals, perverted game shows, to cybernetic sex dolls. Videos that range from funny to strange to just plain dark. They mainly work with freelancers small to big but will on occasion host SOD’s exclusive stars to special titles. The wackiness of JAV is unique, and SENZ is one of the studios that specialize in it and are usually good for a laugh or a confusing eyebrow lift.

For SENZ I recommend this funny documentary about a wealthy Billionaire who comes to Japan to learn about his favorite porn maker. Flanked by a small team of serious and cool-looking hotties who are there to protect and serve him. The comically serious roleplaying by his bodyguards with his outlandish behavior makes for a funny video that still delivers with some actually hot sex. It’s a nice video to dip your toes into the world of wacky porn.
S1 No. 1 Style
It’s a basic pick, but S1 is just too good to deny. The juggernaut studio has an iron grip on the top spots of sales charts, and for good reason, as they host the best roster among all the studios in JAV. Top to bottom, that exclusive roster is mighty with a wide range of types of actresses to cater to every whim, from big busty babes to slender beauties to cute girl-next-door types. The hottest talents flock to S1, and it’s on that star power alone that makes them so popular. They just have actresses I want to see.
Content-wise wise they are a pretty Vanilla maker that dips its toes into many genres and themes, though don’t expect more spicy offerings like BDSM, lesbian, or IR. In the Featured Actresses section, I could have easily triple the number of names of notable and interesting actresses. If this were sports, we would call them a super team. They might be basic and vanilla, but S1 calling themselves number 1 isn’t too far-fetched.
