Imagine being MIA for the first half of the month, only to come back to find out that Maria Nagai is pregnant! Lol. The busty bombshell who hasn't released a JAV in a while thought of catching her fans off guard with her pregnancy tweet on the first day of this month. On October 1st, the former JAV actress turned adult creator on Fantia took to X and announced she’s due for a release, declaring that she now carries “a new life” inside her. So heartwarming!

Maria divulged a lot in her tweet. "As some of you may have already noticed, I'm blessed with a new life. My belly, which hadn't been much bigger before, has started to grow rapidly this month, and I'm feeling it more and more every day, and I'm cherishing it more and more."

From her belly suddenly growing, feeling the fetus move inside her belly every single day, and about how she’s been soaking up the joy of maternity lately. But this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill announcement. She had something more to share than expected.

She cleared her stance on retirement. Maria seemed candid as she mentioned that she loves her work too much to ever consider leaving it behind. "I'm often asked, "Are you retiring from the industry?" I love this job, and I want to stay active for the rest of my life as long as I'm able to."

Mion wished, "I'm so happy for you as it were my own! Congratulations, don't push yourself too hard." While Yuria wrote, "Wow, Congratulations!"

Furthermore, Maria is all set to hold a maternity photoshoot event in the near future as she exclaimed how she didn't expect the event to fill out this fast, "I have a big belly and don't have the most glamorous body for my maternity photoshoot, but I'm surprised that reservations are filling up... I'm so excited to meet everyone before I get pregnant and give birth. My belly is big, but please support me"

But here’s where things get a bit interesting. Judging by her statement, it seems as if Maria isn’t just talking about self-producing exclusive content for her fansite; she hinted that she might still leave the door open for a JAV comeback in the future. If that happens, it’ll likely give nostalgic vibes to that of Yui Kawagoe, who seems to be one of the rare few actresses who featured in JAVs while pregnant and even during postpartum.

What fascinates me most is the way she phrased “My desire to remain active for the rest of my life remains unchanged.” That’s the kind of zeal very few have in this industry.

Of course, it comes with its fair share of controversy. Some will call her brave, others reckless. But this is exactly what makes Maria such a fascinating figure to cover. She’s always been an outlier in her time in the industry, always stuck to doing things her own way.

So here’s my hot take: if in case Maria sticks to her plan of performing during pregnancy, she’ll be remembered as someone who really blurred the line, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a pregnancy kink JAV?

And a decade-long run comes to an end, just like that. It’s pretty hard to digest that we’ll no longer be able to cherish this cutie on our screens, isn’t it?

In an almost poetic manner. Kana revealed that she had always dreamt of retiring in the month of October, the very month that marks her tenth anniversary since her JAV debut. "I will retire from AV with a new release scheduled for October 7, 2025. It had always been in my heart to retire in October, the 10th anniversary of my debut. I was only able to reach this milestone thanks to all of you who supported me. Thank you so much."

Kana is having a full circle moment as she mentioned, “Being able to accompany Idea Pocket as an exclusive actress for the past 10 years, and also having the opportunity to make a retirement work that really makes me extremely happy,”. That gratitude dripping from every line of her message is quite evident, and in true Kana fashio.

She signed off with a promise of a “new Kana” waiting to meet fans beyond her JAV career. "Although I'm retiring from AV, I'll continue to work hard, one step at a time, so that I can meet you all in a new form as "Kana Momonogi" If you see me, I'd be very grateful if you would continue to support me as you have done until now."

Leaving at one’s peak isn’t for the faint of heart, but if any actress from the current batch could handle their exit with such elegance, it’s definitely Kana. It’s not like she’s being talked into retire either, Kana is clearly leaving on her own terms.

Of course, her retirement feels strange at this particular moment, but it also means that the once-dominant 2016 lineup at Idea Pocket is now down to just two names: Momo Sakura and Yume Nishimiya. The rest of that golden generation of the studio has gradually bowed out, one by one, and now Kana’s exit feels like the final nail in the coffin. “They called the wind and the rain,” as the saying goes, and now only faint echoes remain. Although I don’t have much hope for it but it remains to be seen how long Momo Sakura holds the fort.

Not like retirements aren’t uncommon in this industry, but it’s as though the industry is being swept by a retirement fever. Stars who once seemed untouchable are suddenly announcing their exits, leaving fans clinging to the few who remain. Even Momo Sakura, the poster girl of Idea Pocket, has recently revealed that she wasn’t feeling well and had to return to her parents’ home. With three months still left in 2025, one can’t help but wonder who’s going to drop the bomb next?

Of course, it will be hard for the Blue Studio to fill the void left by Kana for a while. Not many actresses can pull the feat to remain beloved year after year, and to represent Idea Pocket with unwavering star power has made her more than just an actress; she’s been a cultural icon of sorts within the industry. And she’s got more in store with her subtle hint of the “new Kana”. What awaits Kana and her fans remains to be seen. The possibilities are endless, and having known her for all these years, I bet she won’t just fade into obscurity rather turn more into a cultural icon like the sorts of Yua Mikami.

For now, though, her fans can go grab her latest JAV to hit the market. The IdeaPocket JAV likely remains her swan song.
