I don’t know whether our readers are aware of this, but it is concerning. Ai Mukai hasn’t released a JAV since January.

Honestly, it was just a passing thought… huh, hasn’t she had a new release lately? But then I checked just to confirm that, since her January title, “I Was Held by Manager Hirose. Please Forgive Me,” there’s been… nothing.

No new JAV releases since then. Just giving way to rumors.

But then, as if sensing the growing rumors, Ai finally decided to address it herself… candidly on her X profile.

“I haven’t filmed anything in over half a year,” she admitted. “I’m feeling a bit anxious…”

Now, this statement alone is concerning. But you’ve no idea what comes next? That’s where things get surreal as Ai said: “Because I don’t have an agency anymore!”

Here’s what we know as of yet: back in February, Ai quietly ended a decade-long relationship with Everest, her agency that had been with her through her rise, her peak, and everything in between. And that’s close to ten years in this industry, no joke.

Here’s where things get interesting. Unlike some actresses who leave agencies with a carefully orchestrated next move already in place, Ai didn’t have a backup plan in mind. She literally found herself standing alone. She’s been open about it, too, while taking on occasional events, meeting fans, staying visible, but behind the scenes, you’d be wrong to think that Ai hasn’t kept her search alive.

“Looking for a new agency,” she announced. But now, even months later? Still nothing.

She has yet to receive a new contract or a JAV. Which, for someone like Ai Mukai, is almost unthinkable.

She has been long enough in JAV to have done it all. Uncensored work, high-output schedules, and even bearing the coveted status of a studio exclusive for a while. She wasn’t just active; she was what insiders would call a release machine.

So what happens when someone like her suddenly pauses activities? Fans have already started to feel it. And apparently, so does she.

In a lighthearted tweet, Ai joked that she’s been away from work for so long that she’s “sexually frustrated.” It’s a line that’s easy to laugh at, but listen closely, and there’s something heavier underneath.

Because behind the joke is a question she hasn’t quite said outright, but you can feel it lingering: What if the industry has moved on from Ai Mukai?

Don’t studios recognize her talent anymore? Has her signature short-haired image lost its edge? Or is the industry simply… looking elsewhere now?

It’s a thought to begin with, but a real one. Still, if there’s one thing Ai hasn’t done yet, it’s giving up. “I definitely want to return to filming this year,” she declared, showing her intent to bounce back and that determination matters a lot.

As for me? I still think she has a lot to offer to her fans, and I bet they haven’t given up yet.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s all it takes for the right door to open again.

Otoha, in her debut last year, was anything but subtle. She burst onto the scene with Moodyz in MIFD-539, carrying that unmistakable mix of freshness and unpredictability that studios love to bet on. And for a while, it worked. A dozen or so JAV releases followed since then that were enough to validate her presence in the industry.

Then, just as her exclusive license with Moodyz ended… she went freelance.

And if you’ve been around long enough, you know that going freelance in this industry is never just a logistical decision. It’s freedom, but also comes with its fair share of risk.

Still, nothing prepared me for how quickly we’d get to witness her drop out of the industry.

Last month, Otoha was scheduled to appear at a fan event, but she pulled out of it at the very last minute, citing health concerns, with no brief explanation, but I guess that was enough to raise eyebrows.

Her studio, DINO, posted a formal tweet, acknowledging that she had backed out of it.

And then, almost as if to close the loop before anyone could speculate too loudly, Otoha spoke. “This is a sudden announcement, but I quit being an adult film actress a little while ago.”

As she went on to reveal, “I’m not quitting for any negative reasons in this industry!” she insisted. She reveals the reason afterward.

“I had so many wonderful experiences… I was truly happy to meet so many fans.” There’s warmth in those words. Gratitude. A genuine sense that she meant what she said.

And then she finally revealed why she decided to step back, “It’s just that I couldn’t keep up with them anymore because I was too laid-back.” Nothing to do with her cancelling the event, apparently

It’s an unusual reason, but again, as fans, all you can do is respect her decision. And she closed her message with the same grace. “Thank you so much for everything! I’ll be deleting this account eventually.”

And there it is. With that sentence comes the end of a short-lived career.
