Ren Gojo Fan Event in AkihabaraI understand how you feel. While I can speak some Japanese there will be times I can't think of the right words in Japanese to express my thoughts. If I can't think of what to say I use a translate app on my smartphone to get my words across, normally Google Translate. If I were you I would first start off speaking English to establish you're an English speaking fan. Do you know if the actress speaks English? If they don't have English in their posts on social media there could be a chance they don't but might still know basic English as it was a requirement in school to learn. Speak English with them and see what happens. I would use Google Translate to come up with what you want to say and put it in notes so you're ready to show them what you want to say/ask and not waste any precious time with them. If you feel comfortable with basic words like, "arigatou gozaimasu," "anata no AV ga daisukidesu," "mata ne," etc. then say it to show you made an effort to learn Japanese to speak with them. Usually when you show you made an effort to speak Japanese they're very happy. I hope you enjoy Japan and the fan event!
