1) Porn hasn't been studied to the extant of other things. Gaming addiction wasnt classified as an addictive disorder until 2013, being on the list of behavioral disorder since the 80's. If gaming cn diagnosed as a behavioral disorder, I don't see much of a reason porn can't. I think the increasing parasocial aspect changes things as well. Which brings me to... 2) I think a unique problem with today's porn especially JAV is no one is taking the context of current society. Fundamentally porn is like other mediums, but in the world of loneliness and parasocial relationships, JAV can get weird fast. I find kpop and jpop idol industry to be unhealthy for many reasons, and those reasons are now shared with AV idols. A lonely society can uses certain things like a sedative, in a way other things can't. And if porn has obvious drawbacks, what are the good things it brings that couldn't also be brought with sex education and ACTUALLY going out with romantic partners, or porn-less masturbation? 3) You said that these actresses arent the demons or idols we make them out to be, but who's the one making sure we percieve them as angels? Well, the JAV industry, the actresses, and even sites like.... Zenra? This is like when Idols bitch about fans that THEY themselves helped inappropriately nurture. 4) Age verification laws arent crazy. The average age of consumption is 9. It may prove useless but i dont see that as "war on pornography". We already give tons of personal information online,(credit cards, social security number, address) so i dont buy the paranoia on that. -slightly modified by admin
I do have sympathy for all av idols being lumped into one, but man do they not do much to break down those bad reputations. The content outside of their film work, like interviews or shows, seem to further paint them as horny shallow people. I understand they could be exaggerating their personality but that's the whole point. Anytime I see them is when they're not being down to earth or getting into a scandal. Not to mention so many are hypocritical about their view of their work. So many have said that they wouldn't date a guy in the industry, or that they get rather jealous when their men just FLIRT with someone else even though they have sex with other men and go on shows to flirt with internet personalities. If you're going into the most self indulgent career one could imagine, I think there's some level of responsibility one has IF THEY CARE about others opinions. I think June Lovejoy is a great example. It be great if they could just do their work and not mind the rest, but actresses seem to play into their nympho characters and then get depressed people see them that way. It's part of the reason I tended to focus more on actual films, story and kinks rather than invest on particular actresses.

JAV Sales Report - May 2025Yeah sad they haven't responded yet but I was wondering the same thing too. I think for years I kept seeing Ichika Matsumoto at the top of a lot of list, and always ranked first in digital sales. She seems like the most popular actress yet didn't get much recognition from most blogs I read. But I also see she has nowhere near the followers that other actresses have. So I wonder if it's purely overall sales from all movies done since Ichika at one point was putting out so much content. I also wonder what name truly is the most well known in Japan.
