Yuu Kawakami - From Innocent Beauty to Salacious Beast

“Yuuko (Yuu Kawakami) is married to a famous calligraphy artist whom due to injury is finding it harder to put out quality work.  To ensure he doesn’t lose clients, she decides on doing the unthinkable:  provide sexual favors to them so they don’t take their business elsewhere.

Good storylines and JAV don't go hand-in-hand as often as I'd like.  Usually one is sacrificed for the other and given that most people who watch adult video want to see...well 'adult activities', more often than not, it's those fantastic (clothed) dramatic encounters that are reduced.  It's a delicate balance too, mind you; after all, if you're a drama maker, you still want a title that will tell a story, but of course you also want a title with lots of sex and nudity because otherwise, it may not sell.

And if titles don't sell, you'll go out of business.

Even a drama JAV maker such as ORGA has to keep this in mind.  With their founding director and owner taking a back seat to allow more sexually-charged titles to be produced, I was elated to see he did return to the director's chair for this YUU KAWAKAMI release:  FROM INNOCENT BEAUTY TO SALACIOUS BEAST.

This one's got a story and it's also really perverted.  Most important, just like that amazing AI UEHARA title by them (also directed by the same person, TEI JAGA), its story is fully fleshed out and features a solid ending that makes you think.  Sure YUU KAWAKAMI has her perversions and her demons, but at the end of the day, she's using her nearly fatal flaws to save her husband's mind and his business.

Is cheating truly bad if that's what it takes to help him return to form?  A calligrapher who's too weak to use his hands is never going to get work.  Even a famous one like her husband.  And what's wrong with making a sex slave out of the bumbling household helper?  A woman's gotta find a way to vent and sexually teasing an oaf fits the bill.

One other aspect of SALACIOUS BEAST I found really unique was how it mixed in femdom so well.  Most Japanese AV titles--heck, most drama JAV titles--have women playing the submissive.  Here, we're treated to a rarity via a dominant YUU KAWAKAMI being the star of the movie and arguably the character in the most powerful position.

FROM INNOCENT BEAUTY TO SALACIOUS BEAST is a true cinematic affair.  I'm no technical wiz, but the cameras used in this title were top notch.  The lighting is flawless (even the dark scenes!), and the variance in scenes from the amazing CMNF bathing encounter to the stark naked domination affair in the attic and of course that final nocturnal coupling all look beautiful.  ORGA may be an independent studio, but they set the bar high.
